4 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 2/4/21

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal more risk. This is especially true on tonight's slate, where there are lots of lower-salaried plays. Plugging in these options will afford you more chances to play some studs, as well.

Thursday night features eight games on the main slate. Let's take a look at what values we can find.

Jordan Staal, Center, Carolina Hurricanes

FanDuel Salary: $3,900

Keep playing the Carolina Hurricanes' center until he goes up in salary. Staal topped double-digits again on Tuesday night, and Thursday has some potential as well. Staal now has six real-world points during this four-game point streak.

Playing again versus the Chicago Blackhawks should only boost his potential. Chicago is starting Malcolm Subban in net, and while they play better at home, they now give up 34.2 shots per game (second-worst in the NHL). Subban is not on the same level as Kevin Lankinen.

This medium-sized slate does feature one other nice choice to take a shot on. Philipp Kurashev is listed as a center on FanDuel for Chicago and plays on the top line, especially at even strength. He did score on Tuesday night and had a few chances to pad that total.

Corey Perry, Wing, Montreal Canadiens

FanDuel Salary: $3,700

This may feel like a social experiment but Corey Perry will indeed see more power-play time for the Montreal Canadiens against the Ottawa Senators tonight. His big body could be a huge influencer in this game. That may help him production-wise as pucks and chances could go off that body leading to more opportunities.

That being said, there is a considerable risk. How many minutes will Perry play? He played fourth-line minutes (nearly 24 combined) in the previous two games. If he gets near that 15-minute level, Perry might generate several chances and 3-4 shots on the net.

Kaapo Kakko ($3,600) is a low-risk choice from the New York Rangers. He was skating on a line with Artemi Panarin and Ryan Strome at even-strength in practice on Thursday.

Jakob Chychrun, Defenseman, Arizona Coyotes

FanDuel Salary: $4,000

With value plays looking less profitable, Chychrun has managed to stay around the same salary for the Arizona Coyotes. He did everything but score in his last game -- totaling four shots, two blocked shots, and three scoring chances. Chychrun even drew iron, and if not for a few missed opportunities, he may have picked up an assist or two along the way.

Chychrun's salary is still enticing because with Oliver Ekman-Larsson still out, he is the chief option when it comes to ice time for the Coyotes. More and more, the Russian defenseman is showing the tools he needs to take his production to the next level.

Justin Faulk ($4,100) is a dicey choice with a lower floor but he does have three goals on the young season and has shown bursts of speed that were thought to have vanished several seasons ago.

Jordan Binnington, Goalie, St. Louis Blues

FanDuel Salary: $7,600

This has been a nice bounce-back start for Jordan Binnington. He has won four straight starts and five of his previous six. Binnington has faced 35+ shots in three of those outings and that includes the previous meeting versus Arizona. Taking advantage of a lower-salaried player in a good spot is okay here.

The St. Louis Blues are playing well enough to give Binnington a good chance at a win. Often, the second meeting in these mini-series favors the home team (nearly a 70% win rate). Arizona has enough speed on the wings to fire a decent shot total at the St. Louis goalie.

Sergei Bobrovsky ($7,300) is a high-risk value play from the Florida Panthers. He has victories in all three of his starts this season.
