3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 3/3/21
Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal more risk. This is especially true on tonight's slate, where there are lots of lower-salaried plays. Plugging in these options will afford you more chances to play some studs, as well.
Tonight's slate has six games on the schedule. Let's rise to the challenge!
Cody Glass, Center, Vegas Golden Knights
FanDuel Salary: $3,500
So, Cody Glass finally scored a goal for the first time in eight contests. That is great news.
Defensively, he played reasonably well, but more importantly, Glass did not get sucked up by the pace of play. He was able to create a few scoring chances even when playing without Mark Stone. The key for Glass is getting shot attempts. He does not always look for his shot. In that eight-game goal drought, Glass has zero or one shot on net a whopping six times.
Now, the Knights and the Minnesota Wild had a crazy game on Monday night. Can they do that again? The possibility is there, which benefits a player like Glass.
Elsewhere, Dylan Gambrell ($3,400) is an enticing second-line option for the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night against a banged-up Colorado Avalanche team.
Jordan Greenway, Wing, Minnesota Wild
FanDuel Salary: $4,000
The Minnesota Wild forward has made a home on the top line with 12 assists and 15 real-world points on the season. His shot volume has been more encouraging the last couple of games (four on six attempts and five on eight attempts). That needs to continue if Greenway is to take the next steps in his development.
Nonetheless, Greenway enjoys nice chemistry with Joel Eriksson Ek and Kevin Fiala. The even nicer part in DFS is that Greenway's salary remains steady in that optimal value range. How long does that continue? If he keeps producing the way Greenway has started the season, that will not be long.
Vegas is among the league-leaders in the least shots and scoring chances allowed (third in the NHL). However, when they allow opportunities, they tend to be glaring ones. Minnesota and Vegas are two relatively stingy teams defensively that can play at a higher pace.
Max Jones ($3,900) is one to watch from the Anaheim Ducks. His speed caused the St. Louis Blues fits on Monday night despite playing only 11 minutes (one goal scored).
Vince Dunn, Defenseman, St. Louis Blues
FanDuel Salary: $3,800
Defensively, things have been inconsistent for St. Louis much like the rest of their team.
While choices are a little limited, Vince Dunn has played better than his utilization suggests. He has three goals and five assists while playing fewer than 20 minutes a night. Dunn has an assist in consecutive contests and has been more active despite his mostly limited role. Against Anaheim, Dunn should have chances to make plays. He did have two scoring opportunities on Monday night alone.
Also from the value bin, one could consider Jonas Brodin ($3,800) from Minnesota, as his salary again has stabilized but his production has been above value. Even Alec Martinez ($4,100) presents a nice floor option from Vegas with an elevated chance of blocking three-plus shots and firing two-plus shots on net.
