3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 3/23/21

With only five games on the NHL schedule, which players offer the best value on Tuesday night?

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal more risk. This is especially true on tonight's slate, where there are lots of lower-salaried plays. Plugging in these options will afford you more chances to play some studs, as well.

Tuesday night features five games on the docket. It is time to take a look at some lower-salaried players.

Jason Dickinson, Center, Dallas Stars

FanDuel Salary: $3,800

The Dallas Stars may be limited at the center on Tuesday night as Jason Dickinson wound up playing 22 minutes over the weekend versus the Nashville Predators. Tonight, Dickinson goes up against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

This is strictly a value play based on opportunity. Dickinson almost has to play in all situations by default on Tuesday night. He did enjoy three scoring chances versus Nashville and has the speed to get to the net versus Tampa Bay.

Now, can Dickinson find a way to get on the scoresheet? That is a viable question on Tuesday. But at his salary, it's worth finding out.

Elsewhere, Travis Zajac ($3,700) is a risky option against a Philadelphia Flyers team searching for its identity. Zajac will play in all situations for the New Jersey Devils.

Joonas Donskoi, Wing, Colorado Avalanche

FanDuel Salary: $3,700

Somehow, Joonas Donskoi's salary has not spiked despite a four-game real-world point streak. The Colorado Avalanche winger is still playing middle-six ice time but getting opportunities against lesser opponents. Donskoi scored twice on Monday in just 14 minutes of ice time with five shots on goal.

Again, the might of Colorado's top line allows players like Donskoi to slot into roles that are more advantageous to production. Now, will he see any power-play time? That's the question. Either way, even at even-strength, the winger deserves a look as he does have seven scoring chances in the last three games with four high-danger chances and a crossbar hit in that span.

Filip Zadina is a high-risk choice from the Detroit Red Wings. The winger sees increased ice time of late as well as greater opportunities. His maturation could be of benefit on Tuesday.

Mattias Ekholm, Defenseman, Nashville Predators

FanDuel Salary: $4,100

Mattias Ekholm still has a salary low-enough to be rostered again on Tuesday. Nashville has to keep playing the defenseman 25+ minutes a night until Roman Josi and/or Ryan Ellis return.

Value options are a bit daunting on Tuesday night and his floor increases exponentially and he does have four real-world points in his last four games. The matchup is somewhat favorable against Detroit, who do play Nashville tough on occasion. Either way, both teams should have some opportunities.

Mackenzie Weegar ($4,100) could carry some value versus the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night. The Florida Panthers defenseman is a nice possibility to utilize.
