3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 4/16/21

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal more risk. This is especially true on tonight's slate, where there are lots of lower-salaried plays. Plugging in these options will afford you more chances to play some studs, as well.

Friday has a four-game main slate, starting at 7:00 p.m. EDT. Let's look at some value picks.

Chandler Stephenson, Center, Vegas Golden Knights

FanDuel Salary: $4,000

When does Sam Carrick not get scratched in a random manner? That gives us a little pause and leads us back to a first-line center in Chandler Stephenson.

The Anaheim Ducks have had their share of issues defensively, and even when they win, it seems like they are easily giving up 35-plus shots. Stephenson and the top like of the Vegas Golden Knights should get several quality scoring chances. The center does have four real-world points in the previous four games. With his salary as low as it is, he doesn't need to do too much to be worth a roster spot.

Tyson Jost ($3,400) hit for 9.6 FanDuel points on Wednesday night for the Colorado Avalanche. The third-line pivot draws an excellent matchup against the Los Angeles Kings' middle-six.

Max Comtois, Wing, Anaheim Ducks

FanDuel Salary: $3,800

Max Comtois is again a viable option at home against Vegas. The Anaheim winger had an excellent mini-series with three real-world points (one goal and two assists). One worry with Comtois is simply the ice time as he is still usually getting only 13 or 14 minutes of ice time a night.

Comtois has the speed to create scoring chances even against the sound defense of the Knights. He has that kind of talent.

This is not an easy decision, but Jean-Gabriel Pageau ($3,800) has some intrigue and could have a good day versus the New York Islanders with his speed.

Mike Reilly, Defenseman, Boston Bruins

FanDuel Salary: $3,900

As long as Mike Reilly plays on the top power play, the defenseman should provide value and usefulness at his modest salary.

The Boston Bruins' defenseman set up several opportunities in his first couple of games. He played 22 and 23 minutes in his first two outings for Boston -- amassing eight shots on goal and five scoring chances created. This is a Bruins team with a quality power play. Even versus New York, there is potential for more shots as Boston is one of the better teams in the league on the back end of a back-to-back.

Elsewhere, Mathew Dumba ($3,900) could be a dicey choice from Minnesota, but he has a powerful slap shot that just needs to be used more often. The concern is that he has one shot in the last two games (two real-world points, though).
