3 NHL FanDuel Studs to Target on Monday 11/29/21

Sidney Crosby is slowly rounding into form as Pittsburgh heads to Calgary on Monday. Which studs are worth targeting on the FanDuel main slate?

In any daily fantasy lineup, spending up in any daily fantasy lineup is how to get the superstars and the highest upside players in your lineup.

In NHL DFS, it’s different from paying up in sports like NBA or NFL. Someone can be one of the highest salaried players at his position and put up a total dud of a performance, and paying that much for him would be a huge mistake. Let’s make sure we are paying up in the right spots when building our lineups tonight.

Monday night brings us four games on the NHL slate. It is time to hunt for more studs.

Sidney Crosby, Center, Pittsburgh Penguins

FanDuel Salary: $7,300

Sidney Crosby now has real-world points in consecutive games for the second time this season. Can Crosby make it three games in a row?

Crosby has done exceedingly well against Montreal. He has two goals and two assists in two games against the Canadiens -- and just two assists in any other games. His 13 shots and 12 scoring chances in his last three contests are the more encouraging aspects of his game.

Our model projects Pittsburgh to score 2.84 goals, which is plausible for the Penguins. Pittsburgh does match up well against the Calgary Flames and their inconsistent goaltender, Jacob Markstrom.

Stacking players on both sides of this offensively-sound Pittsburgh-Calgary matchup is interesting. Jake Guentzel must be considered as a great compliment to "Sid the Kid".

Kyle Connor, Wing, Winnipeg Jets

FanDuel Salary: $8,900

As snipers go, there are few quite like Kyle Connor. The Arizona Coyotes will be the next to find that out.

He shoots a metric ton (95 shots on goal) and many of those shots possess some danger (90 scoring chances). Connor snapped a three-game real-world point drought with two goals in Calgary on Saturday on just three shots. If the goals come with his normal shot volume in the future, he will be a must for the optimal lineups.

The Coyotes allow 3.57 goals per game (30th) in the league and 33 shots per game (25th).

Connor simply is going to have plenty of opportunities with the home cooking on Monday night. He is our best bet to light the lamp at least once. After all, he has 14 goals on the season already.

Shayne Gostisbehere, Defenseman, Arizona Coyotes

FanDuel Salary: $5,100

Do not bother yourself with the normal high-salary defensemen range on Monday night. With the highest salary the $6,100 attached to Quinn Hughes, there aren't many viable ones.

This is a night where studs are more like second-tier studs. Kris Letang has just one goal on the season for the Pittsburgh Penguins, but. Shayne Gostisbehere has three goals and 12 assists on the season.

Gostisbehere has 46 shots on goal -- but 16 shots in his last four games. On a slate short on options, it's worthwhile to just hunt general production.

The Coyotes have at least been somewhat entertaining of late. They have scored 16 goals in their past six games. The Winnipeg defense also shouldn't be feared; they've allowed the 13th-most high-danger chances (188) in the NHL.
