3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on Monday 1/10/22

With just three games on the schedule, finding value is more of a challenge. Let's dive in!

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal of risk, too. The right low-salary plays can give you good production while affording you more chances to roster high-salary studs.

Monday now has three games on the docket hockey fans. Let's find some value!

Oskar Steen, Center, Boston Bruins

FanDuel Salary: $4,000

The Boston Bruins center has had a nice little run with a goal and four assists in seven games. There is risk with the ice time (10:18 ATOI) and shots per game (1.29), but Oskar Steen is being deployed in situations where offense is optimal.

Now, the Washington Capitals will give up their fair share of opportunities. They have allowed 18 goals in their last six games played. The Capitals can be a bit up and down and do have problems with forwards who can bring speed up the middle. The young Steen definitely has that.

Steen's minutes may even inch upward a bit on Monday night, as Bruce Cassidy likes what he has seen from the young forward. It is a good situation to monitor.

Barclay Goodrow, Wing, New York Rangers

FanDuel Salary: $3,800

Barclay Goodrow has made the most of his increased playing time of late with the New York Rangers. He did it again with another assist and several scoring chances against the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night. That brought him up to three goals and three assists in his previous five games.

The even better news is that Goodrow is a DFS floor darling, and this bump in ice time only increases his chances to block more shots (five in the past five contests). While he is only averaging 1.80 shots on goal per game, that boost to his floor and ability to get to the net has paid dividends.

He is one of the most versatile forwards that New York has. Expect the winger to rack up some more minutes tonight playing a hard-nosed Los Angeles Kings team.

Mike Reilly, Defenseman, Boston Bruins

FanDuel Salary: $4,100

Defense is a tough place to find value on Monday night. Dig deep and deeper. With Dmitry Orlov just placed on COVID protocol, it was time to get out a bigger shovel.

Mike Reilly is another one of those risky but rewarding type value plays from the Bruins. He has a goal and three assists over his last six games and is seeing a little over 19 minutes of ice time a night. He, like Orlov, is getting almost two shots a game on net lately and a blocked shot per night.

The issue for Reilly is often a case of consistency. He had just four real-world points in his first 22 games, so hopefully, another drought does not start tonight against Washington.
