3 NHL FanDuel Studs to Target on Tuesday 1/11/22
Spending up in any daily fantasy lineup is how to get the superstars and the highest upside players in your lineup.
In NHL DFS, it’s different from spending up in sports like NBA or NFL. Someone can be one of the highest salaried players at his position and put up a total dud of a performance, and paying that much for him would be a huge mistake. Let’s make sure we are spending salary in the right spots when building our lineups tonight.
Tuesday night has seven games currently on the schedule. It is time to look at a few studs!
Aleksander Barkov, Center, Florida Panthers
FanDuel Salary: $9,000
Others may prioritize elsewhere on Tuesday's slate, but Aleksander Barkov has a prime matchup at home versus the Vancouver Canucks. While the Florida Panthers have been playing regularly, the Vancouver Canucks last played on January 1st -- some 10 days ago.
The question has to be asked -- how rusty will Vancouver and Thatcher Demko be? It probably is not an ideal time for a "Florida road trip", and the Panthers along with Barkov have to be at the ready. They have a good chance of topping 35 shots on Tuesday night.
As for Barkov, he has 3 goals, 4 assists, 21 shots, and 25 scoring chances in his last five games alone.
The defensive wizard Barkov also has rejected eight shots in his previous four games -- which only boosts his scoring potential.
You could also take a look at stacking options like Mackenzie Weegar, or, perhaps, dig for value with Anthony Duclair. Duclair's speed will be a problem for Vancouver, and the Cats should be a problem for the rusty 'Nucks.
Timo Meier, Wing, San Jose Sharks
FanDuel Salary: $9,900
Timo Meier is having fun on the ice, and it shows.
He benefits from a solid matchup versus the Detroit Red Wings this Tuesday night. Detroit has just won four times on the road this season.
Meier loves to shoot pucks on the net. He is also on a nice four-game real-world point streak. The "playmaker" has a goal and 6 assists during this time with 14 shots and 17 scoring chances. Just imagine when the pucks start finding the back of the goal again!
The San Jose Sharks winger has 14 goals and 24 assists in 31 games this 2021-22 season, and with the forward averaging 4.2 shots per game and posting a career-high 18:36 ice time per game, it is easy to see why Meier is a must-play option Tuesday.
Roman Josi, Defenseman, Nashville Predators
FanDuel Salary: $7,500
The Nashville Predators defenseman could have an increased role in the offense -- especially if Filip Forsberg does not play on Tuesday night.
Roman Josi has two goals and three assists in the four games since the extended "Christmas Break". Against the Arizona Coyotes this weekend, Josi had a goal, assist, and seven shots on goal. He also blocked three shots.
Josi has 12 goals and 22 assists this season. He is on pace for 25 goals and over 50 assists. Playing a Colorado Avalanche team who is not rested should help. Colorado even gave up three goals to an undermanned Seattle Kraken on Monday, and they've ceded seven total in their last two games.
The Nashville defenseman has an even-strength on-ice shot percentage of 11.8%. Things tend to happen when he is on the ice.
Those who look at Cale Makar normally may want to put their eyes on Josi instead.
