3 NHL FanDuel Value Plays to Target on Monday 1/31/22

This is a shortened week for NHL DFS, but there are still some nice values plays for the taking on Monday night. Let's dive in for a closer look.

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal of risk, too. The right low-salary plays can give you good production while affording you more chances to roster high-salary studs.

Monday night has five games on the schedule. Let's get down into the values!

Cole Sillinger, Center, Columbus Blue Jackets

FanDuel Salary: $3,900

Cole Sillinger is a fun option to use tonight in NHL DFS. He is salaried below $4,000, which makes him an ultra-cheap option. Also, over the weekend, he looked more like the Sillinger we saw pre-COVID. He had a goal, an assist, three shots on goal, and four scoring chances.

The key is always the same with Sillinger. Get him involved early. If he is not making plays in the opening 20, it can be a long night in NHL DFS.

The Florida Panthers will give up some goals, and Columbus Blue Jackets have a decent offense (3.07 goals per game -- 14th in the NHL).

The chance both teams score three or more goals is quite high. They are projected to score a combined 6.29 goals on Monday. Sillinger expects to play a role somewhere in what could very well be one of the higher scoring games of the night.

Kailer Yamamoto, Wing, Edmonton Oilers

FanDuel Salary: $4,000

Kailer Yamamoto is not a true top-line winger in the NHL, but for short-term flashes, he can play like one.

Yamamoto has been consistently over 16 minutes of playing time, and he does have a respectable goal and three assists over the last seven games.

With so many risky choices among wingers on Monday night, it becomes a question of picking the least dicey. If nothing else, Yamamoto gets enough ice time to generate opportunities that others may not.

Yamamoto and the Edmonton Oilers have a solid matchup against the Ottawa Senators with an expectation of three or more goals very likely.

Gustav Forsling, Defenseman, Florida Panthers

FanDuel Salary: $4,100

With one last value choice from the bargain bin, we look to Gustav Forsling from the Florida Panthers.

The defenseman can be erratic when it comes to NHL DFS production, but when he is on, he is on. Take Saturday versus the San Jose Sharks as an example. Forsling had a goal and an assist with three scoring chances and a blocked shot.

The risk is that Forsling carries a low floor for a top-four defenseman. He typically averages about 1.85 shots per game and just over a blocked shot a contest.

Salaries are a bit inflated again on Monday night due to the short slate, but Forsling has some value.
