3 Daily Fantasy NHL Stacks for Wednesday 3/16/22

In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside -- if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists, as well.

Ideally, we want players who will get a lot of ice time together on an even-strength line and a power-play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.

There are only four games on Wednesday, but we've got some really interesting spots to stack tonight.

Calgary Flames

The Calgary Flames were finally slowed down in their last game on Sunday. They lost 3-0 despite putting 46 shots on goal. If they can create that many chances tonight, they're likely to score a lot of goals.

The top line for the Flames is usually a good target on most slates. Johnny Gaudreau ($8,700) had his eight-game point streak ended on Sunday, but he still has 14 points in his last 10 games. Matthew Tkachuk ($7,900) hasn't been focusing on being a pest this season and instead is on pace for a career-high in points.

The member of this line that gets the least amount of fanfare is Elias Lindholm ($8,100), but he has the most goals with 30. This line has produced more goals than any other line in the NHL and is also fully correlated on a dangerous power play.

The Flames will face the New Jersey Devils at home tonight. New Jersey is coming off a 6-3 loss last night and now will likely turn to backup goaltender Jon Gillies. Gillies has allowed 12.43 goals above expected in just 14 games with the Devils this season. That doesn't bode well against a Flames team that is second in shots on goal per game.

Calgary is clearly in the best spot and sports the best implied team total on the slate. If you want more exposure to the Flames, Tyler Toffoli ($6,200) has eight goals in 14 games since joining the team. He is now on the first power play, so if they can get it going with the man advantage, he'll likely be involved.

Tampa Bay Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning haven't received as much buzz this season as some other teams. That will likely change once we reach the playoffs, and people see the two-time defending champs in full gear. They could produce a performance tonight that might have some people taking notice.

The Lightning's top line has been good but not spectacular of late. Nikita Kucherov ($9,400) has 10 points in 10 games. That would be a good run for most players, but it's a bit below his lofty standards. The same can be said about his linemate Brayden Point ($7,900), who has eight points in 10 games and none in his last four. Ondrej Palat ($4,900) depends on the success of these guys, so if they are a bit down, he will be as well.

We still like these guys, as they have proven to be a dangerous line for years, especially with Kucherov and Point linking on the power play.

Tampa has had a tough schedule over this stretch where their production is a bit down. That will change tonight when they face the Seattle Kraken. The Kraken have fallen into last place in the West now after going 2-6-2 in their last 10 games. Seattle has allowed the fourth-most goals per game. They don't allow a ton of high-quality chances, but Tampa tends to rely on efficiency rather than sheer volume, so this plays into their hands nicely.

Tampa's implied team total is only behind Calgary's tonight. This is a perfect chance for their top line to get rolling once again. Seattle will also be without Mark Giordano, who is their best defenseman.

Columbus Blue Jackets

The Columbus Blue Jackets have been a fun team to stack for 2022. They play a lot of high-scoring games, and their players have big fantasy performances, as well. That definitely could be the case again tonight.

Columbus' top line took a hit with Boone Jenner being placed on IR last week. It has made it more affordable to stack, and Jack Roslovic ($4,300) can step in and fill his role nicely. He has some chemistry with Patrik Laine ($7,800) from their days together in Winnipeg. Laine has been one of the best goal scorers in the league recently, with 17 goals in his last 19 games.

These guys will join forces on the power play, as well. Gustav Nyquist ($5,200) is also on this line and has assists in his last two games.

Columbus will face the Ottawa Senators tonight. Ottawa just allowed five goals to the Arizona Coyotes on Monday. They also allow the second-most expected goals per 60 minutes in the league.

You get nice value on the Blue Jackets tonight, and they certainly have upside to make them warrant consideration tonight. Zach Werenski ($6,600) can also be used with this stack, as the defenseman has 37 points this season and has at least three shots on goal in 12 straight games.
