3 NHL FanDuel Studs to Target on Monday 3/21/22

A red-hot Roman Josi can keep it going in a nice matchup with the Ducks. Who else should you prioritize?

Spending up in any daily fantasy lineup is how to get the superstars and the highest upside players in your lineup.

In NHL DFS, it’s different from spending up in sports like NBA or NFL. Someone can be one of the highest salaried players at his position and put up a total dud of a performance, and paying that much for him would be a huge mistake. Let’s make sure we are spending salary in the right spots when building our lineups tonight.

Monday night delivers four games on the schedule. Here are a few studs.

Nazem Kadri, Center, Colorado Avalanche

FanDuel Salary: $8,300

The Colorado Avalanche forward is in a good spot at home against the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night.

His struggles of late have been well-documented. The good news is that Nazem Kadri has seen his salary come down enough that it's much easier to feel good about plugging him in. He had gone 10 straight games without scoring a goal. That changed against San Jose over the weekend.

Shots have been a bit lacking of late for Kadri, but he does have three blocked shots in his last three games, which adds to his floor. Kadri still sees ample power-play time, and there's a chance he faces the Oilers' worst defensive pairings in this one.

The Avs average more than four goals a game at home, and Kadri can have a big game in this spot.

Kirill Kaprizov, Wing, Minnesota Wild

FanDuel Salary: $9,300

Kirill Kaprizov's matchup against Vegas is one of the best on Monday night.

Minnesota has an excellent chance of scoring more than three goals. They are projected to tally 3.47, per our model

Vegas has played a little better of late, but they are still struggling defensively at times. It is the goaltending of Logan Thompson and Laurent Brossoit that has improved a bit.

Kaprizov had fired at least three shots on goal and created at least four scoring chances in eight straight games. Vegas should have a very tough time trying to keep up with his speed.

Roman Josi, Defenseman, Nashville Predators

FanDuel Salary: $8,200

The hottest defenseman in the NHL is Roman Josi, and it is not close.

Josi has a whopping three goals and 13 assists in his last seven games. In five of those contests, he has four or more shots on goal. In four of those games, he has multiple blocked shots, as well.

The defenseman has a great matchup against the Anaheim Ducks. Anaheim may not even know its starting goaltender until later today due to the NHL trade deadline.

The Predators could easily score a handful of goals against a reeling Ducks squad, and Josi has a good chance to keep rolling.
