4 NHL FanDuel Value Plays to Target on Thursday 3/31/22

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy -- but also a good deal of risk, too. The right low-salary plays can give you good production while affording you more chances to roster high-salary studs.

Thursday night comes in with nine games. It is time to target some plays that save a little salary.

Christian Dvorak, Center, Montreal Canadiens

FanDuel Salary: $3,900

The Montreal Canadiens have found their offense at least. This is where Christian Dvorak comes into the mix.

The four-game real-world point streak is nice (two goals, two assists). However, the six shots on goal, eight scoring chances, and three blocked shots are nicer yet.

Dvorak is finally seeing some top-six ice time, and naturally, the opportunities are finding their way in the back of the net. Since coming back into the lineup on March 17th, the center has played at least 15 minutes in every game.

Montreal is facing a Carolina Hurricanes team that has been up and down lately.

Ryan Lomberg, Wing, Florida Panthers

FanDuel Salary: $3,800

Ryan Lomberg is a strange one, to say the least. He plays bottom-six minutes but has middle-six upside on Thursday night.

Consider that Lomberg has four goals and an assist in his last five games despite playing an average of around 10 minutes a game.

There are risky plays and this may top them. However, he is sheltered and at home. The Florida Panthers have the highest goals projection, per our model at 4.29 goals.

Lomberg kind of plays the way that Frank Vatrano did. In some ways, he has taken on that role.

Florida has so many scoring options, which makes things challenging, but again...savings!

Ville Heinola, Defenseman, Winnipeg Jets

FanDuel Salary: $4,200

The Winnipeg Jets defenseman is being allowed to play more to his strengths.

Ville Heinola is finding success as a result with assists in five straight games. Against Buffalo, the Finnish blueliner had three shots and a blocked shot in 20:55 of ice time.

Seeing multiple shots per game is great, but the increased minutes the past few games are even more appealing. Heinola has high-end talent and is riding a solid way of confidence.

This is one of the better under-the-radar values tonight.

Semyon Varlamov, Goalie, New York Islanders

FanDuel Salary: $7,400

Yes, if it isn't broken, don't try to fix it? Semyon Varlamov just defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday and remains a good start on Thursday, too.

Overall, this appears to be Varlamov's run in goal while Ilya Sorokin is out.

With a 71% chance of winning, the New York Islanders have one of the higher probabilities for a win on Thursday.

The Islanders goaltender is 4-1-1 in his last six decisions with a shutout and four quality starts. He has faced 39 or more shots in three of those games.

His value is in his save count, which might be in the 30-35 range once again.
