3 Daily Fantasy NHL Stacks for Tuesday 4/5/22
In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside -- if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists, as well.
Ideally, we want players who will get a lot of ice time together on an even-strength line and a power-play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.
With 10 games on the slate tonight, there should be lots of good options to stack.
Florida Panthers
The Florida Panthers were at it again over the weekend. On Saturday, they trailed 6-2 going into the third period and won 7-6 in overtime. On Sunday, it was a more routine 5-3 win. They have played some chaotic games this season, and Tuesday night could be another one.
The Panthers did shift their lines around of late. Aleksander Barkov ($9,700) is back playing with Anthony Duclair ($5,800) and Carter Verhaeghe ($5,200) at even strength. Barkov has been great lately, recording two points each of his last four games. Unfortunately, he won't be playing with any of these guys on the power play, but we've seen him play well with this line for a lot of the season.
The second line does have some power play correlation. Jonathan Huberdeau ($8,800) will link up with Claude Giroux ($6,400) in all situations. Huberdeau has 13 points in his last eight games and is third in the league with 97 points. Sam Bennett ($6,200) will be the center of this line, and he's third on the team with 26 goals.
Florida will face the Toronto Maple Leafs in a highly-anticipated matchup. That's because both teams play a fast-paced brand of hockey with lots of goals scored in both directions. Toronto continues to have questions about its goaltending; they will turn to rookie Erik Kallgren. Kallgren hasn't been awful, but he has allowed at least three goals in each of his last four appearances.
This game has the rare seven-goal over/under in a game that oddsmakers see as a high-scoring affair. Florida's implied team total is currently sitting at 3.83 goals, making them a great target tonight.
Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers' roller coaster season looks to be on an upswing. They've won their last four games in a row -- and 7 of their last 10. More importantly for fantasy, their best players have been great once again.
Two players have cleared the 100 point mark this season. Those two would be Connor McDavid ($10,100) and Leon Draisaitl ($10,000). McDavid has 20 points in his last 10 games and Draisaitl has 11 goals in his last 10, so these guys are back to their early-season form. They haven't played together on a consistent line since Jay Woodcroft took over as head coach, so it's a bit tricky to stack them.
You can stack them together along with Zach Hyman ($6,600), who will play on a line with Draisaitl and on the power play with both. Another forward would be Jesse Puljujarvi ($5,200) for another guy to play with McDavid, but he won't see time on the first power play. The best option might be Tyson Barrie ($5,400) on defense, who finally had a big game with three points on Sunday.
The Oilers' will face the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks are one of the teams with nothing to play for at this time of year, and they've lost their last three games. The Oilers have played them twice this season and scored eight goals. The Oilers should have no problems here once again.
Edmonton's implied team total is 3.67 goals tonight. McDavid and Draisaitl is obviously an elite stack if you are able to fit them in together.
Ottawa Senators
The Ottawa Senators will likely be an overlooked stack tonight with so many options on the slate. They had some nice performances over the weekend and get a matchup that could see them keep up those performances.
It's been a great breakout year for Josh Norris ($6,700). After his hat trick on Sunday, he's now scored 30 goals in just 52 games. He wasn't the only Senator to score their first career hat trick this weekend, as Mathieu Joseph ($3,500) also did the same on Friday. Joseph got the bump up to the top line after that game and had three assists in his first game on that line. Brady Tkachuk ($6,900) is the third member of this line and leads the team in points and shots on goal.
The Sens will face the Montreal Canadiens in a battle between the two worst teams in the Atlantic Division. Even with Montreal's recent improvements, they still have allowed the second-most goals per game in the NHL and the fourth-most per game since March 1st. Ottawa should be able to continue to produce offensively in this matchup.
Ottawa's implied team total tonight is a respectable 3.03 goals. If you want another value piece, Erik Brannstrom ($3,900) will be on the power play with Tkachuk and Norris. Brannstrom and Joseph are two of the better value plays on the slate, and they will allow you to fit in some other stacks you might want tonight.
Others to Consider: Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers
