4 NHL FanDuel Value Plays to Target on Thursday 4/7/22
Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy -- but also a good deal of risk, too. The right low-salary plays can give you good production while affording you more chances to roster high-salary studs.
Thursday night gives us 10 games to work with. It is time to go budget friendly!
Morgan Frost, Center, Philadelphia Flyers
FanDuel Salary: $3,600
These are two teams that have zero to play for, and the shots should be plenty.
Morgan Frost is reasonably salaried and has been shooting the puck more and more. 9 shots and 10 chances in the last two games is very encouraging production.
Going against the Columbus Blue Jackets helps. Columbus allows 35.4 shots per game (tied for the worst in the NHL). It is not like Philadelphia is much better at almost 35 shots per contest allowed.
The Blue Jackets have given up 3.81 goals per game since January 1st. Philadelphia yields 3.51 per contest overall (27th in the NHL). Bottom line -- these are two teams who allow goals in bunches.
Frost has just a goal and assist in his last five games, but he's added seven blocked shots.
Eric Robinson, Wing, Columbus Blue Jackets
FanDuel Salary: $3,900
Yes, sometimes we do not kid here -- Eric Robinson could not be contained against Philadelphia on Tuesday night.
Robinson had two assists in almost 15 minutes of ice time versus the Flyers. That included three scoring chances and a blocked shot
In this wild game, the winger possesses an above-average shot but has to take advantage of his play-making skill set as well.
Will there be enough goals to be had in Columbus? That answer is likely yes.
Ty Smith, Defenseman, New Jersey Devils
FanDuel Salary: $3,600
The Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils are in a battle for the bottom of the standings (and the top draft pick)?
Now, no one wants to say that officially. However, when Ty Smith starts playing 20 and 22 minutes in consecutive games, that is a sign.
The Devils' defenseman does have some potential on the man advantage, but his defensive skills at the NHL level are still a work in progress. He has 2 assists in his last six games with 12 scoring chances.
Kyle Burroughs also returns Thursday and could be worth at least a quick glance as well for those running low on salary at the blue line.
Jake Allen, Goalie, Montreal Canadiens
FanDuel Salary: $7,300
With Harri Sateri starting for the Arizona Coyotes, that creates a problem. Why? At this moment, he is sadly not in the FanDuel database for goaltenders.
So, now what do we do?
Overall, Jake Allen of the Montreal Canadiens faces a ton of volume. He has seen 40-plus shots in six of his last seven starts. Allen has faced at least 30 in all nine starts since his return last month.
Montreal is allowing 3.82 goals per game on the road and facing 36 shots per 60 minutes away from Bell Centre. Here, the goaltender faces a New Jersey Devils team with some questionable offense.
His value comes from his volume, but arguably, a win may be more likely than usual Thursday night.
