NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.
Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com or DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.
Let's jump in to take a look at today's slate and some players to consider for your lineups.
Goalie to Target
Juuse Saros ($8,600): The Nashville Predators need to win at home against the San Jose Sharks. There's really no other way to put it for the Preds, who come with a two-game losing streak and holding on to the first Western Conference wild card spot by only one point now. They are -220 home favorites and will have Saros in net, who has allowed two goals or fewer in four of his last five starts. He also comes in with 27 saves or more in that time, giving him a solid floor of points, which is good in any format.
The Sharks are one of the worst offensive teams in the league, scoring only 2.12 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the second-worst in the league. Frankly, we should see the Predators come out somewhat desperate to grab the win, which puts Saros in a good spot for fantasy points.
High-Salaried Skaters
Johnny Gaudreau ($9,200): Johnny Gaudreau had no NHL points in his last game. While it may not seem like a shock, Gaudreau has 99 NHL points in 72 games played, so failing to find the stat sheet is actually rare for Johnny Hockey. This is a spot for him to get back on track since the Calgary Flames come in with a strong 3.89 implied goal total, which is the third-highest on the slate. This is nothing new since the Flames are scoring 2.94 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the fifth-best in the league.
Gaudreau is on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, coming in with 19 NHL points and 32 shots on goal in the last 10 games. He's one of the elite scorers in the league and legitimately carries 40-FanDuel-point potential.
Mitch Marner ($9,800): The Toronto Maple Leafs have been on fire lately, coming in with three goals or more in each of their last eight games. Marner has been a big part of that with 22 NHL points and 37 shots on goal in his last 10 games. A Maple Leafs stack has the potential to break the slate on a nightly basis and is a team you certainly want some exposure to versus the Buffalo Sabres.
This game features a massive 7.0 over/under and the Leafs are carrying a slate-high 4.63 implied goal total. Given his high fantasy upside, Marner stacked with Auston Matthews ($10,400) should be an elite tournament stack tonight.
Value Skaters
Yegor Sharangovich ($5,200): The New Jersey Devils have a sneaky high 3.47 implied goal total against the Arizona Coyotes. This is a matchup of two teams that simply don't play any defense and seeing a sloppy back and forth game won't be a surprise. This could lead to plenty of fantasy points, and getting cheaper exposure here is never a bad thing. Sharahgovich is now on the first forward line and the second power-play unit, coming in with 7 NHL points and 17 shots on goal over his last 10 games.
Mason Marchment ($5,600): The Florida Panthers are the best offensive team in the league, scoring 3.37 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, so it's never a bad idea to have some of their players on your roster. They are massive -520 home favorites tonight with a 4.33 implied goal total, which should make them a chalky option despite it being a 14-game slate. Marchment has a decent offensive role on the third forward line and the second power-play unit, and he has 5 NHL points with 29 shots on goal over his last 10 games.
