3 Daily Fantasy NHL Stacks for Wednesday 4/13/22

In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside -- if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists, as well.

Ideally, we want players who will get a lot of ice time together on an even-strength line and a power-play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.

This slate is only three games instead of four, but we can still find some teams we can stack.

Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche are a juggernaut heading to the playoffs. They have won six games in a row and eight of their last 10. They could finish with the best record in the NHL at the end of the season and are in a good spot to win tonight.

This season has not been without its fair share of injuries for the Avalanche. It has caused changes to their lineup. Nathan MacKinnon ($9,800) and Mikko Rantanen ($8,100) have been joined by Andre Burakovsky ($5,000) for a little while. This line has been good together, with MacKinnon scoring four goals in his last three games. Rantanen went pointless last game but had a streak of three straight games with multiple points before that. Burakovsky has five points in the four games since he rejoined this line, so for just $5,000, he's a great value.

The second line also is in play as a value stack. Valeri Nichushkin ($6,500) was playing well on the first line but was bumped down to make the team a bit more balanced. He's now playing with J.T. Compher ($4,800) and Artturi Lehkonen ($4,500). This trio hasn't exactly lit the world on fire, but they have some things going for them. Nichushkin and Lehkonen are playing on the first power-play unit with MacKinnon and Rantanen, so they have nice upside. This also makes it much easier to play Cale Makar ($7,000), who leads all defensemen with 25 goals.

Colorado will face a Los Angeles Kings team that has been struggling and is coming off a back-to-back. They have been without Drew Doughty on defense for over a month now, and it's starting to hurt them a lot as they allowed six goals to the Minnesota Wild on Sunday. Even though they have good overall defensive metrics, LA can definitely be exploited by a team like Colorado.

The Avalanche have an implied team total of 3.6 goals. That's the highest on the slate, so stacking either the first line or the second line definitely makes sense.

New York Rangers

The New York Rangers have clinched a playoff spot and are fighting for seeding in the Metropolitan Division now. A loss last night was not ideal, but they get a much better matchup tonight to try to bounce back.

The Rangers improved their depth before the trade deadline and have a new acquisition on each of the top two lines. Chris Kreider ($8,600) and Mika Zibanejad ($7,600) are now playing with Frank Vatrano ($4,300). Kreider hit the 50-goal mark last night as his career season continues. The goals haven't been going in as easily for Zibanejad, but he does have four assists in his last three games. Vatrano has six goals since coming to New York, so for just $4,300, he's certainly worth playing.

The second line has perhaps the Rangers' most in-form player -- Artemi Panarin ($7,700). He was held pointless last night but still has 15 points across his last 10 games. Ryan Strome ($5,800) has played well since returning to the lineup and will be alongside Panarin on the first power play. Andrew Copp ($5,500) won't get time on the first power play but has been a consistent performer with just one game under 9.6 FanDuel points since joining the Rangers.

The Rangers will take on the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers just got embarrassed 9-2 last night against the Washington Capitals as their disaster of a season continues. They have been playing a lot of young players who are newly signed out of college, and the jump to the NHL might have come a bit quick for them.

New York's implied team total is 3.45 goals, but if they really get clicking, they can break the slate against this Flyers team.

Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens had a dream run to the Stanley Cup Final last season. This campaign, they've experienced a bit of a nightmare as they've sunk to dead last in the Eastern Conference. They have picked things up since their coaching change and have some players who are definitely worth using in DFS.

The Canadiens have relied on two youngsters to do a lot of their scoring. Nick Suzuki ($6,200) leads the team with 55 points, including nine in his last 10 games. Cole Caufield ($5,600) was ice cold to start the season and was even sent down to the AHL, but he has been great over the last few months. He has scored 17 goals in the 28 games with Martin St. Louis as coach, which is close to a 50-goal pace if extrapolated over 82 games. Josh Anderson ($4,700) has been moved on and off this line but looks as if he will be there tonight and on the top power play with these guys .

Montreal may be an underdog, but they get a good matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Columbus allows the most shots on goal per game and the third-most goals per game. They tend to play wild, high-scoring games, and this clash could be one of those.

With Montreal not being favored and on the road, they might go a bit overlooked. With the way their top guys have been playing and how weak Columbus can be on defense, Montreal is a sneaky-good stack to use.
