3 Daily Fantasy NHL Stacks for Tuesday 4/19/22
In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside -- if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists, as well.
Ideally, we want players who will get a lot of ice time together on an even-strength line and a power-play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.
A 10-game Tuesday slate is what's on tap for daily fantasy players. Let's take a look at the top stacks.
Tampa Bay Lightning
The Tampa Bay Lightning are not exactly soaring into the playoffs, with just a 5-3-2 record in their last 10 games. They played a good game on Saturday and have a chance at dominating an inferior opponent tonight.
The Lightning made some changes to their lines recently. Now Brayden Point ($7,500) and Nikita Kucherov ($8,700) are playing with Nick Paul ($3,700) on the top line. Paul worked well with these guys on Saturday, scoring a goal and adding an assist. Kucherov was the star of the show in that game, with two goals and two assists. He now has 16 points in his last 10 games, so he's picked up the production after a bit of a slump.
Tampa will face the Detroit Red Wings at home. We know the deal with Detroit -- they leak goals in nearly every game they play. Over the weekend, they lost twice and allowed 10 goals total. That brought their goals allowed per game to 3.8, the second-highest in the league. Now, they'll be without captain Dylan Larkin, who helps move the puck in their transition game.
Tampa should be able to dominate in this matchup. If they are able to score a lot of goals tonight, Victor Hedman ($6,900) will be a great defenseman to have. He had four assists on Saturday in a game in which they scored seven goals. The Lightning have an implied team total of a whopping 4.37 goals tonight, so fireworks can be expected from them.
Minnesota Wild
The Minnesota Wild continued their explosive offensive season with two games over the weekend that saw them score five goals in each. They are fifth in goals per game this season, but with goal-scoring up this year, they actually average more goals than any team did last season. Tonight, they have a great chance to pad those stats even more.
The Wild haven't had many true superstars in their franchise history, but Kirill Kaprizov ($9,400) is one. He broke the franchise record with his 43rd goal of the season on Saturday. He's formed incredible chemistry with Mats Zuccarello ($7,000), who has set a new career-high mark in points with 74. Ryan Hartman ($6,300) is also having his best season ever, as he has scored 31 goals. This has been one of the most productive lines in hockey since they've been put together.
Minnesota's second line also has players who are worth considering. Kevin Fiala ($7,400) has five goals and 10 points in his last four games. Matthew Boldy ($6,000) has points in each of his five games since returning from injury. Frederick Gaudreau ($5,100) might be thought of as just a third wheel on this line, but he has notched eight points in his last four games and is a perfectly fine option with this stack.
Minnesota will take on the Montreal Canadiens today. Montreal has regained the lead from the Detroit Red Wings for most goals allowed per game this season. When these teams met earlier in the season, the Wild smoked the Canadiens, 8-2. Minnesota's implied team total tonight is 3.96 goals, making them a great team to stack.
Vancouver Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks are the cockroach that won't die, as their playoff hopes are somehow still alive. They won last night and the Vegas Golden Knights lost, dramatically increasing Vancouver's chances of making the playoffs. Tonight, they'll look to continue their six-game winning streak.
The Canucks' forward depth was never much of a question this season. The first line has J.T. Miller ($8,200), who's ninth in the NHL in points. He's playing on the top line and top power-play with Vasily Podkolzin ($3,700), who has been on a heater with four goals in his last three games. Conor Garland ($5,000) is on a six-game point streak and will be the third piece of this line.
Vancouver's second line is also an option. Elias Pettersson ($6,500) has been at his best of late, totaling 11 goals and 18 points in his last 10 games. He's playing alongside Brock Boeser ($5,800) at even strength and on the power-play. Boeser made his return to the lineup last night and had a goal and two assists. Quinn Hughes ($5,500) joins the list of Canucks who have shown great form, with six points in his last three games.
Vancouver is on a back-to-back tonight, but so are their opposition, the Ottawa Senators. Ottawa has the disadvantage as they are on the road, while Vancouver is playing both games at home. The Senators will be starting goalie Filip Gustavsson, who has allowed 11.96 goals above expected in just 15 games this season.
The Canucks can't afford to take it easy, even on the second night of a back-to-back against a weaker opponent. With the way they've been going of late, Vancouver could easily rack up goals and be one of the stacks you need to take down a tournament.
Others to Consider: Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks
