3 Daily Fantasy NHL Stacks for Friday 5/13/22

In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside -- if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists, as well.

Ideally, we want players who will get a lot of ice time together on an even-strength line and a power-play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.

Three different teams have a chance to close out their series tonight. Let's take a look at the best stacks to attack this slate.

Florida Panthers

The Florida Panthers were known for making huge comebacks during the regular season. That came to fruition last game when they trailed 3-0 and came back to win 5-3. They can finish the series at home tonight.

Florida has many explosive offensive players, but none have been better than Carter Verhaeghe ($6,300). He had five points in Game 5, and only Connor McDavid and Brad Marchand have more points than him in the playoffs. He's considered a game-time decision tonight, but players tend to play through injuries in big playoff games.

He's on the top line with Aleksander Barkov ($9,400), who had two assists in Game 5. The linemate they are slated to play with is Anthony Duclair ($5,500), but Florida has been mixing up their lines a lot during each game.

The second line is listed as the same as we expected going into Game 5. Jonathan Huberdeau ($9,100) is playing alongside Sam Bennett ($6,200) and Claude Giroux ($6,400).

Giroux had a nice game on Wednesday, with a goal, an assist, and five shots. He's on the top power play with Huberdeau, but also spent time playing with Barkov and Verhaeghe. That makes it viable to stack these lines in a lot of different ways. You can just use Giroux instead of Duclair, or you can use Barkov with Huberdeau and Giroux to get the three biggest stars on the team who all correlate on the power play.

This series has been tougher than most expected for Florida, but they seem to have found their offensive groove. They are the biggest favorites on the slate tonight at home against the Washington Capitals. They also have the highest implied team total, making them clearly the best stack of the night.

New York Rangers

The New York Rangers looked dead and buried in Game 5. They were losing 2-0 and down 3-1 in the series. They sparked to life with a rally that saw them live to fight another day and now go into Game 6 needing another win.

The Rangers' top line has not been dominating the possession battle in this series, but the production has been reasonable. Mika Zibanejad ($7,300) hasn't scored yet but does have four assists. Chris Kreider ($8,000) has two goals in the series to go with his 52 in the regular season. Surprisingly, the leading scorer on this line is Frank Vatrano ($5,000) with five points in the series.

This line's outlook has improved with Sidney Crosby missing this game. Crosby was driving play against this line and causing them to get stuck in their own zone, and without him on the ice, this line should be able to attack more.

Artemi Panarin ($7,600) leads the team in scoring, and he slots in on the second line. He'll link up on this line and on the power play with Ryan Strome ($6,500). Andrew Copp ($6,100) is the third member of this line and is tied for the team lead in goals with three. He's tied with Adam Fox ($7,000), who can be used on defense in either stack.

The Rangers will still get to shoot on Louis Domingue in net for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He hasn't been a total disaster for being a third-string goalie, but he has had a few shaky moments. He's allowed 2.19 more goals than expected in his four starts and a relief appearance in Game 1.

New York has become the favorite because of the unfortunate injury to Crosby. They also sport the second-highest team total on this slate, meaning one of these lines has a chance to carry tournament lineups tonight.

Washington Capitals

The Capitals are on the brink of elimination but have played better than most would have thought heading into a series against the team that finished with the most points in the regular season. Some of their old guard have played well and will need to do that tonight if they are to stay alive.

The Capitals' top line changed when Tom Wilson went out in Game 1. Now T.J. Oshie ($5,700) has moved up to the top line and has five goals in five games in the series. Alex Ovechkin ($9,400) correspondingly has five assists and is tied with Oshie for the team lead with six points. Evgeny Kuznetsov ($7,000) has chipped in with two goals and two assists and will center this line.

The best part about Oshie being on this line is that they will play together on the power play, as well, giving great correlation. John Carlson ($6,800) has also been good in this series, with five points from defense, and he's a great fourth element to this stack.

Washington has scored the same number of goals as the Panthers in this series, so they shouldn't be underestimated despite being underdogs. Having the full correlation makes them have a bunch of upside, as combining on two or three goals could be enough to take down a tournament.

Washington could go a bit overlooked with the Panthers, Rangers, and even Penguins and Calgary Flames probably being more popular. This makes them a perfect contrarian stack to utilize on this slate.
