NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.
Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.
Let's jump in to take a look at today's slate and some players to consider for your lineups.
Goalie to Target
Antti Raanta ($7,300): The Carolina Hurricanes are very slight -104 road underdogs versus the New York Rangers in what should be another low-scoring game. Through the first three games of this series, there has been a total of nine goals between the two teams -- a paradise for the goalies and their fantasy points.
Of the four goalies on the slate, Raanta has the second-lowest salary, which can always help with roster construction. Jacob Markstrom of the Calgary Flames is at the bottom, but with the Edmonton Oilers having scored 15 goals in three games, his risk is far higher than Raanta.
High-Salaried Skaters
Connor McDavid ($10,200): You just roster Connor McDavid, it's that simple. Find the salary relief and jam in McDavid. That's the thesis of a small two-game slate.
He has posted at least two NHL points in each of his last six games, which is an unbelievable level of production in any period of time -- much less during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. McDavid can break any fantasy slate, and when there are only two games in action, you don't want to be left behind the pack and not have McDavid in your lineups.
The opportunity cost of not rostering McDavid is far too high and one you should not be willing to take. He has 9 NHL points and 13 shots on goal in the first three games against the Flames, putting him at a level only his teammate, Leon Draisaitl ($10,000) can match.
Sebastian Aho ($7,000): The Hurricanes are 6-0 at home in the playoffs with 22 goals scored, and they're 0-4 on the road with 7 goals scored. It's night and day for their offense, which needs to step up if they want to avoid losing Game 4 and having the series tied up.
Aho is their top-line center and on the first power-play unit, which should put him in a spot to add some offense if they can break their road woes. Overall, Aho has been good in the playoffs with 8 NHL points and 24 shots on goal through 10 games, but he needs to find that consistency on the road.
Value Skaters
Tyler Toffoli ($5,300): The Battle of Alberta has seen a total of 28 goals in the first three games, making this the clear option to target for extra offense tonight. Toffoli is on the third forward line and the first power-play for the Flames, who come in with a 3.21 implied goal total tonight.
Toffoli has two NHL points and seven shots on goal in the three games against the Oilers, which is a decent level of production for his role and it being the playoffs.
