3 Daily Fantasy NHL Stacks for Monday 10/24/22

In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside -- if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists, as well.

Ideally, we want players who will get a lot of ice time together on an even-strength line and a power-play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.

Monday's slate is a nicely-sized six gamer, and offers some exciting options.

Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars are a solid team but are not spectacular, and it would be a surprise to many if they were a Stanley Cup contender. Their first line is good enough to put them in the fantasy conversation for most slates.

The top line made up Dallas' top three scorers last season and currently does this season, as well. Joe Pavelski ($6,700) scored a hat trick on Saturday and leads the team with four goals. Roope Hintz ($6,700) and Jason Robertson ($7,900) are tied with Pavelski for the team lead with seven points. These two younger players have formed great chemistry with the older Pavelski, and they also play together on the first power-play unit.

The Stars continue their Canadian road trip today and face the Ottawa Senators. Ottawa made a lot of improvements in the offseason, but almost none of them were on the back end. They haven't been terrible defensively to start the year, and they have the eighth-worst penalty kill in the league.

Dallas doesn't leap off the page as one of the most obvious teams to stack tonight, but the correlation with these three players is so good that they are always in play. The Stars' power play has been the third-best in the NHL so far, and they can exploit the matchup against Ottawa's penalty kill.

Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers are not off to the best start in the standings, losing three of their first five games. You wouldn't know that by looking at the point totals from their top players. Luckily, that's all that really matters to us in fantasy.

Of course, the Oilers are led by Connor McDavid ($10,400). He has five goals and 10 points through the first five games. He's been playing with Evander Kane ($6,900) and Kailer Yamamoto ($4,200). While Kane isn't listed as on the first power play, he has seen plenty of time with McDavid on the man advantage. He's definitely a player to use if rostering McDavid.

The second line has the Oilers' other star player -- Leon Draisaitl ($10,000). He gets two linemates who often play on the power play with him in Ryan Nugent-Hopkins ($5,900) and Zach Hyman ($6,500). You can play Draisaitl with one of his wingers and then use McDavid with them, as it's hard to imagine the Oilers hitting a ceiling performance without McDavid involved.

Edmonton is at home tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins have been good to start the season, taking points in all five of their games. They have been allowing shots, though, giving up 35 shots per game, the fifth-most.

McDavid and company have beaten some of the best defensive teams in the past, so this matchup shouldn't scare us off. The Oilers have the highest implied team total on tonight's slate, and this game has some potential for fireworks on both sides.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes were expected to be one of the best teams in the East, and they haven't changed those opinions yet. They are 3-1-1 in their first five games and are playing the same style that has allowed them to be a contender for the last few seasons.

Unsurprisingly, the Canes are the best possession team in the NHL to start the season. They get off a ton of shot attempts, which is obviously good for fantasy. Their first line has Sebastian Aho ($8,600) playing with Teuvo Teravainen ($6,000) and Seth Jarvis ($5,800). It's a tricky group to stack with Aho being on the first power play and the two wings playing on the second, but the correlation at even strength should be good enough to use this line comfortably.

For a more modest-salaried line stack with some correlation, you can use Carolina's second line. It has leading-scorer Andrei Svechnikov ($8,700) playing with Jesperi Kotkaniemi ($4,500) and Martin Necas ($5,600). Necas trails only Svechnikov and Aho in scoring with seven points, and he plays with Svech on the first power play.

Carolina is on the road and taking on the Vancouver Canucks. Vancouver has been down bad to start the season, with no wins in six games. They've allowed 4.50 goals per game and have a dreadful penalty kill success rate of just 55.6%.

The Hurricanes' implied total is third on the slate, and all signs point to them dominating in this game.

Others to Consider: Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, New Jersey Devils
