NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Thursday 11/3/22

NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.

Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.

Let's jump in and take a look at today's slate and some players to consider for your lineups.

Goalie to Target

Sergei Bobrovsky ($8,000): The Florida Panthers are coming off an ugly loss to the Arizona Coyotes but have a chance to bounce back against the San Jose Sharks tonight. The Panthers should not have lost that game and need to come out firing on offense against the Sharks, who have one of the worst defenses in the league.

The Sharks are allowing 3.34 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the third-worst in the league this season. This is what should ultimately help power Bobrovsky to the win tonight, not to mention the fact they are -210 road favorites. This is not to say the Panthers haven't been good on defense this year because they've actually been solid.

They're allowing 2.31 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, putting them as the 12th-best team in the league. It's a clear bounce-back spot against a weak defense, making Bobrovsky a viable option tonight.

High-Salaried Skaters

Nazem Kadri ($9,600): It's early in the season, and we're dealing with small sample sizes, so I don't want to overreact -- but the Calgary Flames need to find some consistency. Kadri has been one of their stronger players to start the year with 10 NHL points and 30 shots on goal in eight games. He's moved up to the top forward line alongside Jonathan Huberdeau, which should create a dynamic scoring duo. They also skate together on the first power-play unit, which could be a good spot to target for a stack.

The Flames are going up against the Nashville Predators, who are continuing to struggle on defense this season. They are allowing the 10th-most (2.81) goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations while being right around the league average in Corsi Against (Total Shot Attempts Allowed).

Aleksander Barkov ($7,600): The Panthers are boasting the second-highest (3.78) implied goal tonight and should be able to pass that. As mentioned above, the Panthers dropped an ugly game against the Coyotes and now face the Sharks, who are allowing the third-most goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations this season.

The Panthers are one of the elite offenses in the league, scoring 3.32 goals and carrying a 69.54 Corsi For (Total Shot Attempts Created), both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. Those are good for the fifth- and third-best, respectively, making them a threat for an offensive explosion every night.

When it comes to Barkov, he's been just okay to start the season with 8 NHL points and 34 shots on goal through 10 games. Among those eight NHL points, he has just a single goal, which is rather low for the top-line center in this elite offense. The goals should start coming for him, and this favorable matchup should help enable that.

Value Skaters

Trevor Moore ($4,900): Another player that is due for some goals is Moore of the Los Angeles Kings. Playing a strong offensive role on the second forward line and the second power-play unit is never a bad thing for any player's fantasy potential. Couple that with an average of over three shots on goal per game and we're in a spot to see fantasy points every night.

Despite all of that, Moore has only a single goal this season in 12 games. I will continue to buy low on players that meet these circumstances because there is plenty of fantasy value when their salaries are this inexpensive. Tonight, Moore has a good matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks, who are allowing the 11th-most (2.75) goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.

Reilly Smith ($5,100): The Vegas Golden Knights have a 3.44 implied goal total tonight and are taking on the Ottawa Senators, where the game total is set at 6.5. This is setting up for a potential game stack due to the scoring upside, as both teams are in the league's top half for the most goals scored this year.

They are both also in the top half in Corsi For, meaning this game should have plenty of back-and-forth action the entire time. Smith is on the second forward line and the second power-play unit, which has led him to rack up 7 NHL points and 36 shots on goal in 11 games.
