NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Wednesday 11/16/22

NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.

Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.

Let's jump in and take a look at today's slate and some players to consider for your lineups.

Goalie to Target

Jordan Binnington ($7,100): The St. Louis Blues got off to a slow start this season but have picked up three wins in a row and have a winnable matchup versus the Chicago Blackhawks tonight. The Blackhawks have one of the weaker offenses in the league, scoring only 1.70 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the second-lowest in the league.

Binnington has started to look a bit better in the crease for the Blues and should be able to provide a solid floor of points due to his save volume. He comes in with at least 34 saves in three of his last four games, providing consistent fantasy points on most nights. Add in the potential for the win, and Binnington makes a great option at only $7,100 tonight.

High-Salaried Skaters

Connor McDavid ($10,700): It's a small three-game slate and McDavid is essentially a must-play. The opportunity cost of not rostering McDavid tonight is too much and could leave your lineup playing from behind. This is all because McDavid has 32 NHL points and 64 shots on goal through just 16 games.

Averaging two NHL points and four shots on goal per game is simply insane, but it's something McDavid has proven he is able to sustain. Both the Edmonton Oilers and the Los Angeles Kings are in the bottom 11 of the league for the most goals allowed per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. This creates a potentially explosive scoring environment -- something that puts McDavid in a spot for yet another multi-point performance.

Brady Tkachuk ($9,700): The Ottawa Senators have a slate-high 3.54 implied goal total tonight and continue to be one of the better teams to target in fantasy hockey. The Senators are in the top six of the league in both goals scored (2.94) and Corsi For (63.7), both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.

This means they are pushing the pace on offense, taking a ton of shot attempts, and scoring plenty of goals. The flip side of this is the fact they are also in the bottom 10 of the league for the most goals allowed (2.85) in the same situations. They are consistently getting into high-scoring games because they can't play defense but also have the potential to score a ton of goals.

Tkachuk is always involved in the offense on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, which has led him to rack up 20 NHL points and 59 shots on goal through 15 games. He makes a great stack with Tim Stutzle ($7,400) and Claude Giroux ($8,100).

Value Skaters

Jordan Kyrou ($5,500): Kyrou is a solid goal-scorer who has two goals in the last three games. He's a player that provides solid value. His start to the season was a bit up and down, but 19 shots on goal and 2 goals over his last five games are the volume we are accustomed to seeing from him.

He skates on the third-forward line and the second power-play unit, which should provide him enough offensive chances to rack up points. The Blues have a 3.34 implied goal total tonight and are a great spot to look for value options.
