3 Daily Fantasy NHL Stacks to Target for Monday 12/5/22

The Calgary Flames haven't been at their best this season, but they have a chance to score a lot of goals in tonight's matchup. Which other teams should we look to stack tonight?

In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside -- if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists, as well.

Ideally, we want players who will get a lot of ice time together on an even-strength line and a power-play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.

Monday's slate is a fun one and isn't too large with six games. Let's look at some of the best stacks for tonight.

Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers change the dynamic of every slate they are on. It's always a good strategy to try to find a way to get them into your lineups because they have two players with higher ceilings than basically anyone else. That's especially true when they are playing together at even strength.

That is currently the case, as Connor McDavid ($10,600) and Leon Draisaitl ($10,200) are skating together with Draisaitl playing on the wing. Since they've been playing together, McDavid has multiple points in all four games, and Draisaitl has accomplished that in three of the four while also scoring goals in his last six games.

The third member of this line is Zach Hyman ($8,200), who's also on the first power play unit with them. Tyson Barrie ($5,900) can be used, as well, as a defenseman who will see power play time with these forwards.

The Oilers are at home tonight against the Washington Capitals. The Capitals are a shell of their former selves due to many injuries and sit sixth in the Metropolitan Division. They allow 3.12 goals per game and don't have the personnel to match up with the Oilers' super line.

Edmonton's 3.54 implied team total is the third-highest on tonight's slate and possesses the highest upside on the board.

Calgary Flames

The Calgary Flames really need to get on track to match their ambitions. The team has not gelled on the same level that it did last season after all the offseason moves they had to make. Tonight, they'll get a perfect matchup to start a push to get back into contention.

With a bit of underperformance to start the season, we get a nice discount on the Flames' first line. Elias Lindholm ($7,000) isn't on the same pace as last year when he scored 40 goals, but he is having a decent season with 18 points in 24 games. Tyler Toffoli ($6,400) is tied for second on the team in goals and points. The really disappointing member of this line is Jonathan Huberdeau ($5,300), who has just 13 points in 21 games. We should see him bounce back, as he is a top-10 player in points per game over the last three seasons.

Calgary will be at home against the Arizona Coyotes tonight. Not much has changed for Arizona of late, they are near the bottom in almost every defensive metric. They are close to the end of a 14-game road trip that has to be weighing on them by now.

The Flames have the highest implied team total on the slate despite their struggles to score. We don't often get a fully correlated top line for this low of a combined salary that is expected to score the most goals on a slate, so they are clearly a great option tonight.

Montreal Canadiens

If you want to go for a contrarian stack tonight, look at the Montreal Canadiens. They haven't been one of the worst teams in the league like many expected, and their top line is young and exciting.

The partnership between Nick Suzuki ($8,500) and Cole Caufield ($8,600) is one that Montreal fans can look forward to watching for years to come. They each have 13 goals this season, which puts them tied for the 12th-most in the league. Kirby Dach ($5,800) has done nicely since joining this line and now has 18 points in 24 games. This line plays together on the first power play unit, as well.

Montreal travels across Canada to face the Vancouver Canucks. Vancouver has picked things up of late but still has allowed the third-most goals per game. More people will likely look at the Vancouver side of this game, but Montreal's offense is more concentrated, and you can get all of their top players for less total salary.

We've seen Caufield and Suzuki have huge games this season, and it wouldn't be super surprising to see them do it tonight against a weak defensive team like the Canucks.

Others to Consider: Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks
