3 Daily Fantasy NHL Stacks for Tuesday 12/27/22

In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside -- if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists, as well.

Ideally, we want players who will get a lot of ice time together on an even-strength line and a power-play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.

The mini-break over Christmas is over, and it's time to get back into some NHL DFS action.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes are on a roll. They've won their last eight games and now are in first place in the Metropolitan Division. They haven't been too great for fantasy purposes but look like they are set up for success tonight.

The Hurricanes accomplished most of their winning streak without Sebastian Aho ($8,100), their number one center. He returned on Friday and only played 15 minutes, but the score wasn't close for most of the game, and he now has three further days of rest. He leads the team in points-per-game average, scoring 27 points in 27 games. He's playing alongside his Finnish buddy Teuvo Teravainen ($5,200) and Seth Jarvis ($5,200), making a fairly affordable first line stack.

The second line has two dangerous wingers who play on the top power play. Andrei Svechnikov ($7,300) leads the team in goals with 18, and Martin Necas ($7,800) leads the team in points with 33. They have a center in Paul Stastny ($3,800) who has a very low salary and is easy to fit into stacks.

The Canes are the biggest favorite on the slate as they play the Chicago Blackhawks at home. The Hawks got a win just before the break but still have the fewest points in the NHL. Chicago allows the fourth-most goals per game and the sixth-most shots on goal per game, and they're up against the team that attempts the most shots per game.

Carolina's implied team total is close to four tonight, and this should be a game where their high-paced offense can overwhelm their opponent.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been one of the best teams in hockey after a slow start. They are third in points percentage and are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games. Their star players should be in good spots tonight.

The Leafs have a top-10 goal scorer this season, but it's not who everyone expected it to be. William Nylander ($9,100) has netted 20 so far and is on pace for a career-high in both goals and points. Auston Matthews ($10,000) is still among the league leaders in shots on goal, and his 17 goals is still elite despite not being as many as expected. Michael Bunting ($5,800) has seen his role improve, as he's now on the top power play with these two stars.

Toronto will face the St. Louis Blues. The Blues have been a difficult team to understand this season, as they've had long winning streaks and long losing streaks throughout the season. They aren't particularly good at keeping the puck out of their net, allowing the fifth-most goals per game.

The Maple Leafs' implied team total doesn't stand out too much at 3.34 goals, as it's only the fifth-highest tonight. But with the way the Blues can implode and allow goals in bunches, the Leafs are definitely worth stacking.

Vegas Golden Knights

The Vegas Golden Knights have had to deal with key players missing games in the last few weeks, but they still sit atop the Pacific Division. Vegas will likely go overlooked in a sneaky good matchup tonight.

The recently formed top line for Vegas has had a good amount of success. Mark Stone ($7,100) has five points in his last two games, and what's more encouraging is that he has 18 shots on goal in his last three games. That's a great sign for a player who has been shy about shooting at times.

Chandler Stephenson ($6,900) continues to step up when Vegas needs some offense, as he now has 15 points in his last 10 games. Michael Amadio ($4,100) has been a revelation since joining the top line, with five points in three games. Amadio will also join these guys on the first power play if Jonathan Marchessault misses this game again.

The Golden Knights face the team directly below them in the Pacific, the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings may be that high in the standings, but they have some concerns. They are the only playoff team with a negative goal differential, and they allow the 10th most goals per game. The Kings continue to get suspect goaltending, too, as they are 31st in team save percentage.

Vegas is an underdog in this game, but you can get a fully correlated line against a team that lets in a lot of goals, and the stack isn't difficult to roster.

Others to Consider: Colorado Avalanche, San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins
