Champions League Daily Fantasy Helper: Tuesday 2/18/20

Erling Haaland is in a good spot at home versus PSG. Which other players are worth using on Tuesday?

The Champions League, the best soccer competition on the planet, is back, and FanDuel is offering plenty of contests for Tuesday's and Wednesday's knockout stage matches. This article will focus on the main Tuesday slate, which starts at 3 p.m. EST.

Round of 16 - 1st Leg
Tuesday, February 18th
PSG at Dortmund
Liverpool at Atletico Madrid

Per EPL odds, Liverpool (+120) are the slate's biggest favorites, with PSG (+130) not far behind. Atletico Madrid (+250) and Dortmund (+180) are slight underdogs, but overall, the slate is set up to feature two tightly contested matches between four exciting teams.

Here are some players to target at various price points.

Forwards/Midfielders

Kylian Mbappe, PSG ($22) -- PSG/Dortmund is set up to be an open, exciting fixture featuring some of the best attacking players in the world. Both sides boast world-class forwards and have been less than stellar at the back lately. Dortmund has conceded five goals in their last three matches and haven't managed a clean sheet in a Champions League fixture since their second match of the group stage back in October. That's music to the ears of a PSG attack that has scored a combined 16 goals over their last four matches and is expected to see Neymar ($23) back in action on Tuesday for the first time in four matches. All of this bodes well for Mbappe, who should have every opportunity to once again showcase his elite abilities and set PSG up to advance past the first round of the knockout stages in next month's reverse fixture. He has the second-best odds to score of any player on the slate, tied with Neymar.

Erling Haaland, Dortmund ($18) -- There may not be a more in-form player in the world right now than Haaland. Since joining Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January, he has scored 8 goals in five matches, averaging 34.72 FanDuel points per match over that period. Oh yeah, and two of those matches were late substitute appearances. Per 90 minutes played, he is averaging an astounding 51.2 FanDuel points per match since arriving at Dortmund. A Champions League knockout stage match against PSG is a step up in difficulty, but bet against Haaland at your own risk. While PSG has been excellent in the final third, their defense has been far from solid, allowing an average of two goals per game over their last four matches. Dortmund should have plenty of opportunities to answer whatever goal total PSG reaches on Tuesday. He has the best odds to score of any player on Tuesday's slate.

Defenders

Achraf Hakimi, Dortmund ($15) -- Haaland and Jadon Sancho ($16) have received most of the press, but Hakimi has had an impressive Champions League campaign as well. He scored two braces in the group stage, resulting in FanDuel point totals of 45 and 50.3. His other matches weren't as productive, and his floor is lower than some of the other defenders in his price range, but his upside/ownership combination is worth consideration on Tuesday. An open match should allow Hakimi the opportunity to generate points on both ends of the pitch, and he enters this fixture in good form, having produced three assists over his last two matches in the Bundesliga. Playing on the wing in Dortmund's preferred 3-4-3 formation, Hakimi is one to watch on Tuesday. On a pitch full of stars, he may outshine a few.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool ($15) -- Atletico Madrid enters this fixture on the back foot, dealing with multiple injuries and may look to weather the storm against an in-form Liverpool side. That bodes well for TAA, who should see a healthy share of time on the ball in the attacking half of the field on Tuesday. He's scored over 17.5 FanDuel points in each of his last three starts in the Champions League and is coming off a victory over Norwich in which he produced 3 shots and sent in 14 crosses. Defensive opportunities may a little scarce, but TAA should spend more time in the opposition's final third than most other defenders on Tuesday.

Goalies

Alisson, Liverpool ($13) -- Of the four sides in action on Tuesday, Atletico Madrid has struggled the most recently. They have just one win in their last seven matches across all competitions and are dealing with several injuries to both their front and back lines. Liverpool has kept four clean sheets in a row and are the biggest favorites on the slate despite being on the road. While Dortmund versus PSG has the feel of an offensive slugfest, this match could see Atletico dig in and defend for a home result with the goal of stealing the tie in the reverse fixture next month. Allisson's odds for a clean sheet (35.27%) are nearly double the next closest keeper, and for good reason. Trust Liverpool's defensive line on Tuesday.
