FanDuel Soccer: EPL DFS Under-the-Radar Plays for 4/2/22

If you have played daily fantasy sports for a while, you know the importance of being contrarian in large-field tournaments. Recognizing which players are going to be popular and finding others who you think have a similar point projection but will be much less popular can separate you from your opponents.

The same goes for EPL DFS. Even though the large-field tournaments aren't quite as large as they are for other sports, there is still value in identifying quality under-the-radar plays.

This article will discuss FanDuel's main Saturday slate, which starts at 10:00 a.m. EST and features six matches. All betting lines come from EPL odds, and they may change after the article is published.

Matchweek 31 features a trio of big-six sides with Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United all in action. Manchester City (-470 to win) is the largest favorite on the slate, and Cristiano Ronaldo ($20) has the best odds to score (-135) of anyone expected to be active on Saturday.

Chelsea (-290) is the second-biggest favorite, followed by Manchester United (-210), and Brighton (-210). Leeds (+140) and Aston Villa (+155) round out the slate as slight favorites.

Manchester City has dropped four points over their last four matches, bringing the title race with Liverpool firmly back into play. Just a single point separates the two sides with nine games to go. City is extremely heavy favorites on Saturday and is a difficult fade against a Burnley side that has lost their last three matches by a combined score of 8-0. However, with both Chelsea and Manchester United in good spots, there are other options available at the top of the salary ladder.

With that in mind, here are three players to consider on this slate -- especially for tournament formats -- who may fly under the radar.

Leandro Trossard, FWD/MID, Brighton

FanDuel Salary: $18

Brighton and Norwich both enter Saturday's fixture out of form, Norwich on a seven-match losing streak, and Brighton on a six-match streak. Those records alone may lead many to overlook this fixture, but Brighton are decent home favorites and could be set up for their first win since February.

Trossard has been consistently involved in the final third for Brighton but hasn't been on the scoresheet since December. He has at least two shots in each of his last three matches, which bodes well against a Norwich side that has conceded a league-worst 17 goals over their last six outings.

With a salary of $18, Trossard is the slate's highest-salaried player from a non-big-six side. His teammate, Neal Maupay ($17), could be popular, which should further suppress Trossard's draft percentage. As a key cog on a home favorite that owns the same wins odds as Manchester United, Trossard is an intriguing option for large-field tournaments.

Che Adams, FWD/MID, Southampton

FanDuel Salary: $16

Leeds enter Saturday on a two-match win streak, appearing to have finally turned things around just in time. Southampton enter Saturday on a three-match losing streak, losing by a combined 8-2 in that span. On the surface, these are two sides heading in different directions, which should keep Adams' draft percentage low.

While Leeds have managed to win their last two, they have done so on the strength of their finishing. Their defense remains a massive problem, with their last clean sheet coming in November. Leeds may extend their winning streak in this clash, but Southampton should have plenty of opportunities to find the back of the net. Consider including strikers from both sides in this one.

Adams is averaging 2.4 shots per match over his last seven fixtures, with more than 20.0 FanDuel points in four of those matches. Against a vulnerable Leeds backline, Adams has an excellent chance to convert on the opportunities he has been generating. At +195 to score, Adams' odds to get a goal are similar to those of Bernardo Silva ($17), who is +190 to score.

Hwang Hee-Chan, FWD/MID, Wolves

FanDuel Salary: $15

Wolves will be without Raul Jimenez on Saturday due to suspension, which should provide Hwang with a full shift of action against Aston Villa. With seven combined goals over their last three fixtures, Wolves have had no trouble finding the back of the net lately.

Aston Villa have lost two in a row to Arsenal and West Ham, but they had been on fire before those results and could provide a stiff test this weekend. With Wolves missing both Jimenez and Ruben Neves, the public is expected to favor Aston Villa in this one, but at home, Hwang and Wolves could put up a fight while flying under the radar.

Hwang is goal dependent but has a chance to produce here in a potentially expanded role at a low expected draft percentage. At a manageable salary of $15, he fits in well alongside lineups that opt to include popular options from Manchester City.
