4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 5/17/17

Despite the strong matchup, Aaron Altherr's FanDuel price is no longer worth paying for. Who else should you avoid in MLB DFS on Wednesday?

Dare I say Michael Pineda ($8,600) is the pitcher to use tonight on FanDuel?

With both Clayton Kershaw and Lance McCullers playing this afternoon, the main slate is decidedly limited in its pitching selection. It never feels safe to use Pineda because, well, he's Pineda, but he's actually put together quite a resume in 2017. Who doesn't like the look of a 2.59 SIERA, 30.3% strikeout rate, 3.6% walk rate, and 28.7% hard-hit rate?

That being said, it's looking awfully windy in Kansas City again, which is likely a big contributor to a 4.24 implied team total. Pineda does have a 51.4% ground-ball rate, which could lessen the dangers of Mother Nature, but it goes without saying that there's some risk here.

Unfortunately, the other options aren't much safer, as an improving Gerrit Cole ($9,200) gets a tough Washington Nationals team, and Rick Porcello ($9,200) has wind issues of his own in St. Louis. In fact, Matt Shoemaker ($8,100) and Jhoulys Chacin ($7,200) have the lowest implied team totals in good matchups, but they're hardly the models of consistency.

Leave no stone unturned before making your choice!

And speaking of all this wind, we saw quite a few fireworks last night, and it looks like more is on the way this evening. Wrigley once again stands out among the rest with possibly even better hitting conditions than yesterday. That puts a giant bullseye on the visiting Scott Feldman's head, and it might be worth throwing in a few Cincinnati Reds against ground-baller Kyle Hendricks.

So, who do we avoid tonight? Here's a look at four that fit the bill.
