Jacob deGrom, SP, New York Mets

The likely front-runner in the NL Cy Young Award race, Jacob deGrom has been absolutely brilliant this season, posting a 1.71 ERA and 2.89 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) over 174 innings, while sporting a 34.0% strikeout rate.

But the juice doesn't seem worth the squeeze tonight, as deGrom faces a Chicago Cubs offense that has finally woken up. Over their last six games (all wins), the Cubs have scored 44 runs, and they rank third in the last seven days in weighted on-base average (wOBA) -- with a .384 mark -- and second-best with a .236 isolated power (ISO).

Paying up for deGrom is usually a great choice, but it is a scary proposition in this spot.
