5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Studs for 7/1/16
Jose Abreu, 1B, Chicago White Sox
FanDuel Price: $3,800
Since coming to play in the Major Leagues in 2014, Jose Abreu has been a reverse splits hitter. With a home run percentage one full point higher against right-handers (5.0 percent versus 4.0 percent against lefties), Abreu has always shown more power in this split.
Abreu’s numbers have declined since his rookie season, but it’s more because of the precipitous drop in his power numbers against left-handed pitching. After a .309 ISO mark in 2014, that number has fallen all the way to .145 this season.
But don’t fret -- he’s still posting a .172 ISO and 9 home runs versus righties this season, with more power likely to come if recent history is any indication.
Against righty Mike Fiers tonight, who has allowed 8 home runs, a .219 ISO, and a 40.5 percent hard hit rate to righties this season, Jose Abreu is a top option at first base.
