4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 9/8/17

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Now, let's get to the stacks.

Arizona Diamondbacks

Journeyman Jordan Lyles hasn't been good working primarily out of the bullpen for the San Diego Padres, sporting a 6.71 ERA over 51 innings pitched this year, including a 15.4% strikeout rate and 36.0% hard-hit rate. Being that Arizona Diamondbacks slugger Paul Goldschmidt could return as early as today, it could be a long night out for Lyles.

In 2017, Lyles has gotten absolutely hammered by left-handed hitters -- in 103 total batters faced, lefties have rocked him for a .424 wOBA, .606 slugging percentage, and 42.5% hard-hit rate. Slumping horribly in the second half with a 89 wRC+ and .747 OPS, Jake Lamb ($3,000) is a very affordable stick, and is liable to rip off one of these.

Despite his recent troubles, Lamb is otherworldly at Chase Field with the platoon advantage, racking up a .943 OPS, 33.6% hard-hit rate, and 43.3% fly-ball rate this year.

For an additional lefty stick, check out leadoff man David Peralta ($3,400). He's ripped righties for a 137 wRC+ in Phoenix and should be a great table-setter this evening. If Goldschmidt ($4,200) is in the lineup, he's certainly worth the dart throw. His home numbers against righties read like a typo -- he owns a 1.161 OPS, .350 ISO, 50.0% hard-hit rate, and 39.1% fly-ball rate.

New York Yankees

Just when we were ready to give him both the American League MVP and Rookie of the Year awards, Aaron Judge started slumping for the New York Yankees, hitting just .185 with a .722 OPS in the second half.

But he's finally heating up.

Judge has ripped two homers in his last four games, and facing lefty Martin Perez of the Texas Rangers could put him in line for some more fireworks.

On the season, Perez has been, well, subpar. Over 157 innings pitched, he's recorded a 5.01 SIERA, 14.2% strikeout rate, and 33.1% hard-hit rate. Diving deeper into the numbers tells us that righties are wrecking the most havoc on him, including a .475 slugging percentage, 34.9% hard-hit rate, and 30.7% fly-ball rate.

Starlin Castro is priced down at only $3,200 despite a nice start to September that features a 196 wRC+. He also boasts a 1.013 home OPS versus southpaws this year.

Lastly, don't sleep on Matt Holliday, who is now back in the lineup and only $2,900. Holiday has 2 homers this week, and he has recorded a 43.8% hard-hit rate and 41.7% fly-ball rate against lefties this year.

Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves take on young hurler Jose Urena of the Miami Marlins at home, and Urena has acquitted himself well over 23 starts and 140 2/3 innings pitched, notching a 3.71 ERA. The bad news is that he may be getting a bit lucky -- Urena's posted a 5.06 SIERA, while lefties have ripped him for a 32.7% hard-hit rate and 45.9% fly-ball rate.

That's especially bad news when you factor in that tonight's tilt is at SunTrust Park. Per Baseball Prospectus Park Factor by Handedness, the Braves' new home digs ranks 7th in park factor and 13th in home run factor this year (out of 60) for left-handed hitters.

Despite a weakened wrist, Freddie Freeman ($4,100) still has too much upside to ignore. He has recorded a 200 wRC+ and identical 35.4% hard-hit and fly-ball rates at home versus righties in 2017.

For two much cheaper options, Ender Inciarte at $3,300 and Ozzie Albies at $3,200 give additional lefty exposure at a solid value. Inciarte has enjoyed a strong season at the new park, posting a 112 wRC+ at home versus a mark of 92 on the road. The switch-hitting Albies, meanwhile, has been more adept from the left side of the plate, recording a 184 wRC+ (versus a mark of 79 as a righty), along with a 42.3% hard-hit rate and 34.0% fly-ball rate.

For the ultimate salary-saving play, check out Rio Ruiz at the site minimum ($2,000). He's a lefty who posted back-to-back 18.0-plus FanDuel point efforts against the Chicago Cubs last week.

New York Mets

Despite the season-ending injuries to both Michael Conforto and Yoenis Cespedes, the sneaky stack of the day belongs to those Amazin' Mets.

New York takes on Amir Garrett, who was absolutely brutal before being optioned down to Triple-A. In 58 1/3 big league innings, he's recorded a 5.14 SIERA, 11.0% walk rate, 42.4% hard-hit rate, and 38.3% fly-ball rate.

Righties have knocked him around for a 43.7% hard-hit rate and 38.8% fly-ball rate, which makes the 2.64 home runs allowed per nine innings no surprise. And for $2,700, Juan Lagares has shown he's got a little pop in that stick.

Lagares certainly isn't known as a power bat -- he owns a .138 ISO through 196 plate appearances -- but he has knocked lefties for a 32.6% hard-hit rate and 42.2% fly-ball rate.

Travis d'Arnaud ($2,600) has a 150 wRC+, .239 ISO, and a 35.2% hard-hit rate against southpaws, and he's also been rather hot over his last six games. The catcher has 1 homer, 4 doubles, and 4 RBI during this time (25 plate appearances), which has been powered by a 19.0% line-drive rate, 38.1% fly-ball rate, and 33.3% hard-hit rate.

Finally, consider Jose Reyes ($3,200). He's been strong as a righty and is hitting in the leadoff spot once again with Amed Rosario still out with a finger issue. The veteran has knocked left-handed pitching around for a 26.3% hard-hit rate, 44.9% fly-ball rate, and a .189 ISO.
