FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Friday 5/11/18

Yesterday, it looked like a potentially big night at Coors Field, but it ended up being a fairly standard affair, while the Orioles finally fulfilled their chalk status by dropping 11 runs on the Royals. That said, overall, it was an odd slate with many popular plays floundering, so cash lines were surprisingly low for an evening that promised a ton of offensive fireworks.

Pitching pricing was down across the board on Thursday, but that decidedly won't be the case tonight, with the mighty trio of Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander, and Chris Sale taking the mound. We have the Brewers and Rockies in Coors again, but you'll probably need to search elsewhere for most of your bats if you want to fit in these pricey aces. Other top offenses include the Dodgers, Indians, Astros, and Red Sox. The Mariners are also intriguing, but it's expected to rain all night in Detroit, so keep an eye on the forecast if you want to go here.

High-Priced Pitchers

Max Scherzer ($11,700 on FanDuel): Prior to his recent injury woes, DFS was fairly straightforward on days peak Clayton Kershaw pitched -- you played him. He was the must-play of all must-plays, and barring the rare Coors Field game, you used him regardless of matchup or price. Max Scherzer is quickly reaching that status with the way he's been playing. Mad Max is up to a ridiculous 40.0% strikeout rate to go with a pristine 2.22 SIERA and 6.5% walk rate. Seven of his eight starts have yielded at least 47 FanDuel points, with four of those surpassing 57 points. The Arizona Diamondbacks have their share of strikeout-prone bats and are naturally only looking at a 3.16 implied team total. The competition is stiff on this pitching-rich slate, but it's hard to argue with Scherzer's complete dominance this season.
