3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 9/25/19

Is Matt Chapman someone to avoid on Wednesday's main slate?

While we have plenty of pieces geared towards guys you should target in your DFS contests, it's also important to narrow down your shortlist of plays and avoid the suboptimal ones who are overpriced and/or in tough spots.

Let's check out three guys to consider fading on tonight's FanDuel main slate.

Frankie Montas, P, Oakland Athletics

FanDuel Price: $9,000

Before being suspended 80 games for violating the PED policy, Frankie Montas was having a breakout season featuring a 2.91 FIP and nearly 3 WAR in only 15 starts.

Tonight, he will be making his return to the mound against the Los Angeles Angels as the Oakland Athletics try to lock up a wild card spot. Given their current situation in the standings, between Montas' chance of being rusty and a strong Oakland bullpen, Montas figures to be on a short leash should he get into trouble early in the game. With plenty of other quality pitching options, fade Montas in his return to the mound.

At a lower price tag, Dinelson Lamet ($8,300) is a risky but high upside play against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Matt Chapman, 3B, Oakland Athletics

FanDuel Price: $3,600

Welcome to National Avoid The A's Day!

Matt Chapman has continued to be a wizard in the field while also improving at the plate, hitting 34 home runs this year from the heart of Oakland's lineup. However, he faces Andrew Heaney, a lefty with reverse splits who has limited righties to a .306 wOBA while striking them out 29.4% of the time. Chapman has roughly even splits, but Heaney's strikeout oriented stuff should give him problems at the dish tonight.

Instead, consider Jeff McNeil ($3,400), who should have no problem producing against the lowly Miami Marlins.

Aaron Judge OF, New York Yankees

FanDuel Price: $4,500

As the second most expensive position player on the entire slate, Aaron Judge would have to have quite the game in order to justify paying up for his bat.

Judge has recovered from his midseason slump to hit 26 home runs and help the New York Yankees overcome a plague of injuries. Despite his production, Judge will likely struggle against Charlie Morton, who has held righties to four home runs in 94.2 innings and has a 2.86 FIP. With the Tampa Bay Rays needing a win to keep up in the wild card race, Judge will have no easy at-bats tonight in Tampa.

Around the same price range, look to J.D. Martinez ($4,300) as he takes on the Texas Rangers.
