KBO Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Tuesday 7/14/20

Which pitchers and stacks should we target on Tuesday's KBO slate?

MLB finally has a timeline for its return in late July (yay!), so that means MLB DFS is on the horizon.

But you don't have to wait until then to get your daily fantasy baseball fix! The KBO rolls on with daily contests on FanDuel.

First pitch on Tuesday is at 5:30 am ET, and official lineups typically come out an hour before game time at the earliest.

Scoring is identical to what we see in MLB DFS, but FanDuel is condensing the number of starting spots to seven. You start one pitcher as usual, and then only need to roster two infielders, two outfielders, and two utility players to fill out the rest. Your total team salary is also $100 instead of $35,000.

Some websites that can help you get started include MyKBO Stats, FanGraphs, and Baseball-Reference.

Below is an overview of tonight's starting pitchers sorted by FanDuel salary with their 2020 numbers. Opposing team stats are also from this season. Multi-year park factors from the Korean website, Statiz.

Note that on FanDuel these hurlers are listed by their team names (ex: "SK Starting P"), so those are also included.

Let's check out which pitchers and stacks stand out on tonight's slate

Pitchers

Rain wiped out three of Monday's games, and the weather could once again be an issue on Tuesday. MyKBO Stats highlight the Tigers-Lions and Twins-Giants games as potential trouble spots, so be sure to keep tabs on the forecast as we get closer to lock.

Weather permitting, Dan Straily ($23; Lotte Starting P) is the easy top option, with both a low price and elite numbers. The LG Twins aren't a plus matchup for strikeouts, but that certainly isn't enough to move off of Straily tonight.

If Straily's game gets rained out -- or you're just looking to differentiate in tournaments -- then Odrisamer Despaigne ($26; KT Starting P) is the best alternative. Despaigne has a solid 18.3% strikeout rate that should play well against our favorite offense to attack in the Hanwha Eagles.

Stacks

Geon-wook Lee's ERA looks to be living on borrowed time, as he's sporting a poor 13.0% walk rate and has both a fortuitous BABIP (.256) and strand rate (79.3%). While he surprisingly held the NC Dinos in check last time, that shouldn't deter us from stacking the Doosan Bears against him. With Straily being priced so low, we'll have an easier time fitting in Doosan's expensive bats, too. There isn't a ton of value to be found as usual, but Kyoung-Min Hur ($10) is performing well and has some speed upside.

The Kiwoom Heroes should also pop against a struggling Jae-Hak Lee, who has the worst FIP on the slate and middling marks in both strikeout rate and walk rate. Ji-Young Lee ($6) is day-to-day with a finger injury and doesn't have much power, but it's hard to argue with that salary if he's back in the lineup batting fifth again. Dong-Won Park ($9) continues to be an appealing nightly value with 10 dingers and a .247 ISO.

Like always, the Samsung Lions can be stacked on a budget, as Tyler Saladino ($13) is the only active player priced in double digits. They draw Min-woo Lee, who has uninspiring numbers across the board and hasn't found much success over his KBO career, owning a 5.54 ERA and 1.58 WHIP dating back to 2017. The Lions' home ballpark also leans heavily towards hitters. Min-Ho Kang ($7) may be buried at the bottom of the order, but don't forget about him in tournaments. He's tallied seven bombs in just 131 plate appearances.

Top offenses NC Dinos and KT Wiz also deserve consideration. The Dinos get Jake Brigham, who is coming off a strong 2019 campaign but has struggled over four starts since returning from injury. The Wiz should be able to make contact against Warwick Saupold's modest strikeout rate, and they'll also get chances against a lackluster Hanwha bullpen.
