3 MLB FanDuel Studs to Target on Wednesday 6/2/21

Just like in other sports, the focal point of your daily fantasy baseball lineups will be your high-salary studs. These guys take up by far the biggest chunk of your cap space, but they also offer the highest ceiling. And in the case of pitchers, the high-salary options typically come with the highest floors, too.

For hitters, we're looking for guys with big numbers, strong matchups, and with players around them that are likely to produce well, too, increasing our chances for runs and RBI. For pitchers, we want big strikeout numbers, while the ability to go deep in a game and pick up a win is also valuable.

With your high-salary picks playing such a big role in your lineup, you need to be right on these guys, so let's take a look at a few top-end options you can count on to anchor your lineup today.

Walker Buehler, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers ($9,700)

The first two games of this series have been pretty well-pitched, especially last night's nail-biter where the St. Louis Cardinals pulled out a tight 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Tonight, the Doyers will turn things over to Walker Buehler, who has been absolutely brilliant in 2021. Over 64 1/3 innings pitched, Buehler has racked up nearly a strikeout per inning, a 2.66 ERA, and a scintillating 0.90 WHIP.

Our projections have Buehler generating 36.2 FanDuel points, tops on the slate by nearly 8 points.

Max Muncy, 1B/2B, Los Angeles Dodgers ($3,900)

After getting limited last night, Max Muncy and the Los Angeles Dodgers should be primed and ready to go.

Carlos Martinez toes the slab for the Cards, and that could be an interesting option -- Martinez sports a 4.22 ERA and 4.09 FIP -- and it's certainly not strengthened by an outstanding strikeout rate (13.6%, lowest amongst qualified starters).

Martinez has been excellent from a ground-ball perspective -- he sports a 50.3% mark -- but a 42.5% hard-hit rate is the second-worst mark of his career. The lefty slugging Muncy should be able to make significant contact tonight.

Ryan McMahon, 2B/3B, Colorado Rockies ($3,800)

With the Colorado Rockies facing an unbelievable matchup tonight as Jordan Lyles gets the ball, surely this will be a heavily owned stack. A whopping 5.48 implied team total for the Rockies should certainly lead to some solid plays.

In that vein, Ryan McMahon has quietly emerged as a breakout candidate in 2021. He's smacked 13 home runs, leading to 36 RBI, and he's fired in three stolen bases to boot. His .515 slugging percentage and .252 isolated power (ISO) certainly shows he's making plenty of hard contact.

With Lyles' nearly 6.00 ERA and 1.50 WHIP, expect McMahon to clobber baseballs tonight.
