3 MLB FanDuel Studs to Target on Wednesday 6/23/21

Just like in other sports, the focal point of your daily fantasy baseball lineups will be your high-salary studs. These guys take up by far the biggest chunk of your cap space, but they also offer the highest ceiling. And in the case of pitchers, the high-salary options typically come with the highest floors, too.

For hitters, we're looking for guys with big numbers, strong matchups, and with players around them that are likely to produce well, too, increasing our chances for runs and RBI. For pitchers, we want big strikeout numbers, while the ability to go deep in a game and pick up a win is also valuable.

With your high-salary picks playing such a big role in your lineup, you need to be right on these guys, so let's take a look at a few top-end options you can count on to anchor your lineup today.

Trevor Buaer, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers ($11,000)

Listen fam, I'll be the first to admit it -- after a few rough starts following all this sticky stuff, I was a bit concerned that Trevor Bauer might be a medium well steak.

But then, the dude COOKED against the Diamondbacks: seven scoreless innings with eight whiffs.

And, as weird as it may seem, there's some extra juice here. The San Diego Padres have taken the first two games in this contest, and the Los Angeles Dodgers are not likely to be thrilled on a proposition of being swept.

For us, Bauer is head and shoulders above the group tonight. Ride with him.

Matt Olson, 1B, Oakland Athletics ($4,100)

So this may feel like deja vu -- and it is to an extent. Our top flight hitter, Matt Olson, is on this list.

But instead of being excited about attacking the Texas Rangers' bullpen, we just get to attack Alphabet Soup, Mike Foltynewicz. Folty has been downright dreadful this season, allowing 2.07 home runs per nine (HR/9) with a pretty ugly 15.9% strikeout rate.

Expect Olson to torture the Rangers tonight.

Carlos Correa, SS, Houston Astros ($4,000)

There's a lot of different Houston Astros names we could fit in here, but Carlos Correa looks to be a cut above the rest tonight.

Sporting a slate-best implied team total of 5.75 runs, I don't expect a pitching duel like we saw last night. Here's the skinny on the Baltimore Orioles starter, Thomas Eshelman: he gives up a lot of long balls. Like a lot. In 70 innings spanning 2019-20, he has allowed 2.10 HR/9.

Correa's .523 slugging percentage is certainly no joke, and with a homer-friendly environment like Camden Yards, he could be in for a monster night.
