Houston Astros vs. Boston Red Sox

Atlanta -1.5 (+164): 1 Star out of 5

The starting pitching matchup tonight is fairly even with Atlanta's Max Fried going against Houston's Jose Urquidy. Fried posted a 3.04 ERA and 3.49 xERA in the regular season compared to a 3.62 ERA and 3.87 xERA for Urquidy. However, Urquidy struggled in his lone 2021 postseason start in the ALCS.

Of course, postseason baseball games often come down to the bullpens, and the Braves' bullpen is a huge reason why they have had so much playoff success this year. Atlanta boasts a 3.28 bullpen ERA this postseason compared to a 4.64 bullpen ERA for Houston.

Atlanta clearly has the advantage from a pitching perspective in Game 2.

The Braves finished the year only 88-73, but they were a different team after they made several key moves at the trading deadline, which included adding Jorge Soler, Adam Duvall, Eddie Rosario, Richard Rodriguez, and Joc Pederson. The Braves are 36-19 since the start of August compared to 31-26 for Houston during that same time span.

Our model likes Atlanta -1.5 as a 1-star bet given the plus odds.
