Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Adds: Week 21

Dustin May was brilliant in his first turn in the rotation. What other players should we add?

Nailing the waiver wire and the players available are critical to beating out your league-mates in season-long formats.

Each week we will take a look at players who are rostered in fewer than 50% of Yahoo leagues and can help out your season-long squads. Remember, if you aren’t scouring the waiver wire, you are falling behind. There's only two months left in the season -- let's go!

Dustin May, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers

Roster Percentage: 49%

If he is still available -- and this number of roster percentage is rising fast -- Dustin May should be owned this weekend in all of your leagues.

After striking out nine in his season debut, May basically picked up right where he left off. He nearly touched 100 MPH, and he was throwing ridiculous breaking pitches the entire time.

Heading to Loan Depot Park in Miami against a poor Miami Marlins, he's a must own.

Andrew McCutchen, OF, Milwaukee Brewers

Roster Percentage: 42%

While the Milwaukee Brewers have back slid from leading the NL Central at the All Star break to a five game deficit, Andrew McCutchen certainly is not to blame.

Up to 14 long balls and 8 steals on the season, the 35-year-old veteran outfielder is making a push for every day playing time. He's got 400 at bats on the season -- so it's not like he's exactly a part-time player -- but he is certainly surging as of late with three home runs in the last week.

If the Brewers are going to catch the St. Louis Cardinals, Cutch is certainly going to be part of that equation.

Alexis Diaz, RP, Cincinnati Reds

Roster Percentage: 36%

His brother is already a major star, but Alexis Diaz of the Cincinnati Reds could be the next member of the Diaz family to turn some heads.

Featuring a devastating two pitch fastball-slider combo, Diaz looks to be the closer du jour in Cincinnati. And, if you need some help with strikeouts, he definitely seems to be the man to own -- in the last month, Diaz has struck out 20 batters in 13 1/3 innings pitched, and he sports an ERA and WHIP that are under 0.75, each.

Now up to 63 whiffs in 46 2/3 innings, take a gander at Diaz for some bullpen help.

Jake McCarthy, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks

Roster Percentage: 9%

Want to get deep into the player pool for some of those 15-team leagues? Okay fam, let's start looking at Jake McCarthy.

Often slotted into the five spot of the Arizona Diamondbacks lineup, McCarthy has provided plenty of speed as he's assumed an every day lineup spot. In the last month, he's swiped seven bags already, and the .304 batting average certainly won't hurt you, either.

He's not much in the way of power -- he's popped only four home runs in 183 at bats this season -- but if you need speed down the stretch, this could be a quality add.
