MLB Prop Bets to Target on Thursday 9/29/22
Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up (to the tune of cold hard cash) to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.
Here are some MLB player prop bets to make tonight.
Please note that betting lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.
Joc Pederson To Record 2+ Total Bases (+120)
The San Francisco Giants have a soft offensive matchup tonight, and we should see them score some runs.
This season, Feltner is allowing a .420 SLG, .321 wOBA, 4.68 xFIP, 1.22 HR/9, 8.9% walk rate, 42.2% fly-ball rate, and 37.0% hard-contact rate versus left-handed hitters. He's a young pitcher who is struggling a bit, and we can look to some player props against him.
That leads us to Joc Pederson, who is rocking a 148 wRC+, .378 wOBA, .263 ISO, 45.8% fly-ball rate, and 41.8% hard-contact rate versus right-handed pitchers. Joc is locked in at the plate with four multi-hit outings over his last five games, a great sign to see when we have a plus-money player prop.
Braxton Garrett Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-122)
For a strikeout prop, we turn to Braxton Garrett.
Garrett recently returned from the injured list and has two starts under this belt since then. In those starts, Garrett was at 65 and 80 total pitches, which is good to see he is trending upward.
Tonight, he will take on the Milwaukee Brewers, who come in sporting a 25.8% strikeout rate versus left-handed pitchers, which is the third-worst mark in the league. Garrett should be able to jump on this matchup with his 24.5% strikeout rate and 12.4% swinging-strike rate.
While a 24.5% strikeout rate is modest overall, we've seen Garrett reach much higher this season, posting four starts at or above a 33% strikeout rate, including two at 44% and 45%. He has flashed tremendous upside and should see his pitch count increased with this being his third start back from the injured list.
