3 MLB FanDuel Studs to Target on Tuesday 10/4/22

Just like in other sports, the focal point of your daily fantasy baseball lineups will be your high-salary studs. These guys take up by far the biggest chunk of your cap space, but they also offer the highest ceiling. And in the case of pitchers, the high-salary options typically come with the highest floors, too.

For hitters, we're looking for guys with big numbers, strong matchups, and with players around them that are likely to produce, as well, increasing our chances for runs and RBI. For pitchers, we want big strikeout numbers, while the ability to go deep in a game and pick up a win is also valuable.

With your high-salary picks playing such a big role in your lineup, you need to be right on these guys, so let's take a look at a few top-end options you can count on to anchor your lineup today.

Julio Urias, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers ($10,400)

Getting himself ready to dazzle this postseason, Julio Urias takes aim at a struggling Colorado Rockies offense that we love to target outside of Coors Field.

Playing out the string in their 2022 campaign, Colorado has been absolutely dreadful over the last two weeks. In that span, they sport a team wOBA of only .291, an ugly .132 ISO, and an inflated strikeout rate of 25.5%.

Following up a brilliant 32-start campaign last year, Urias may have stepped things up even one more notch in 2022. He's thrown 170 innings and posted a 2.74 xERA with a 24.3% strikeout rate.

I love Urias tonight, and our projections agree. We have him going for 34.0 FanDuel points -- tops on the slate.

Freddie Freeman, 1B, Los Angeles Dodgers ($4,100)

We are going to stay within the same game, but let's flip to the hitting side. Assuming the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to start their lineup mainstays, Freddie Freeman makes a ton of sense tonight.

The Dodgers sport by far the best implied team total (4.83 runs), and Freeman can go off in a date with Ryan Feltner. Feltner owns a 4.74 FIP this season. That's being largely driven by a mediocre 19.8% strikeout rate, 38.2% fly-ball rate, and 1.48 HR/9 allowed.

Feltner has been slammed by all batters, but his 41.7% fly-ball rate against lefties is what really sticks out -- and why Freeman enters the conversation.

Against righties this year, Freeman has posted a 169 wRC+ and 39.4% hard-hit rate.

Carlos Correa, SS, Minnesota Twins ($3,100)

What in the world of Carmen Sandiego has happened to Lucas Giolito this season?

Many assumed the right-hander would rise to ace status this season for fantasy and DFS purposes, and, boy, has that been a bad assumption. In 154 innings pitched, Giolito has logged a 4.31 xERA while allowing 1.40 HR/9.

Same-sided righties have obliterated Giolito. He's allowed a .560 slugging percentage and 48 extra-base hits to right-handers.

Carlos Correa of the Minnesota Twins stands out as a great play in this matchup. His 131 wRC+ against righties is more than useful, and he's powered his way to a 34.9% hard-hit rate in this split.

Correa makes a lot of sense against a struggling Giolito.
