4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 5/1/15

The White Sox disappointed on Thursday but could be in store for a bounce-back game on Friday.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll be providing you with four potential offenses to stack in your daily fantasy lineups. These are the offenses that provide huge run potential on that given day based on matchups and other factors.

After reading through these suggestions, make sure to check out our daily projections. These can either let you know which players to include in each stack, or which guy best complements said stack.

Another great tool is our custom optimal lineups, which are available for premium subscribers. Within the tool, we've added the option to stack teams -- you choose the team you want to stack, show how many players you want to use within the stack, and the tool will create a lineup based on this that you can then customize.

Now, let's get to the stacks. Here are the teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.

Chicago White Sox

With a massive 14 games on Friday night, DFS options won't be hard to find. Most important, subpar pitching is abundant. That's the case for the White Sox, who will be facing Kyle Gibson.

Gibson is managing just 2.42 strikeouts per nine innings and allowing 4.84 walks per nine, the same number as his ERA through four starts. His xFIP of 5.70 ranks a paltry 112th among, well, 112 qualified pitchers this year.

The White Sox converted 12 hits into just 2 runs against the Twins on Thursday, so owners who tried to rely on the White Sox to hammer Trevor May might stay away because of the results. Jose Abreu at $5,700 on DraftKings is the highest-priced hitter on the slate, which might add to low ownerships on Friday.

Miami Marlins

The Marlins have lost some upside without Christian Yelich, but the matchup with Jerome Williams could help change that. Williams has given up four homers in 23.2 innings this year, or 1.52 per nine innings. On his career, Williams has averaged 1.06 homers allowed per nine innings. This year, he's got the 27th-highest home run to fly ball ratio (14.3 percent).

Fair warning: the Marlins' fly-ball rate (27.4 percent) is the lowest in the Majors. Still, few things are going to bring out the pop that does exist in Miami than Williams' penchant for giving up the long ball.

With Giancarlo Stanton ($5,600) and Dee Gordon ($4,600) priced pretty steeply on DraftKings, this might be a team few are looking at on such a big slate.

Detroit Tigers

Paying for Detroit bats isn't easy. Six hitters are priced above $4,500 on DraftKings, but given the matchup, trying to squeeze them in might lead to some major returns.

Chris Young has only thrown 9.2 innings so far in 2015, but he's slated to face Detroit tonight. In 165.0 innings last year with the Mariners, Young posted an xFIP of 5.19 and 1.42 home runs per nine innings.

That should be enough for the Tigers, who rank fourth in the league in wRC+ (121), to knock the ball around the park in a game with an over/under of 9.0. Their one-run outing on Thursday and high price tags might help keep ownership low as well.

San Diego Padres

If you don't want to spend on all of the Tigers bats, the Padres are an option.

With an over/under of just 7.0 on a slate full of games with totals set at 8.0 and higher, the Padres might be an overlooked team despite their matchup. Eddie Butler has a solid ERA of 3.27, but joins Kyle Gibson near the bottom of the league in xFIP, ranking 109th with a mark of 5.18. Butler's walks per nine innings (5.32) ranks 111th in the group as well.

Only three Padres are priced above $3,900 on DraftKings, so loading up on value bats in this stack could help you pay up for one of the two high-priced pitchers if you want to roll that way. Also, finding some value in San Diego could help round out your lineups around a more expensive stack.
