5 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Baseball Hitters for 4/27/16

If you have played daily fantasy sports for a while, you realize by now the importance of being contrarian, especially in large-field tournaments. Being able to recognize which players are going to be owned by the majority of the field and to find players who you think have a similar point projection but will come at much lower ownership can really separate yourself from your opponents.

The purpose of this article will be to bring you some high-upside players who will likely go overlooked and give you an edge.

David Peralta, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks

FanDuel Price: $3,500

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

With most people's attention on the outfielders playing at Coors,  David Peralta will see lower ownership than he should at this price tag.

Why You Should Use Him:

Peralta has been hot recently, hitting safely in five straight and averaging 15.6 FanDuel points during that span.

He gets to face the reeling Adam Wainwright tonight, who boasts a 7.25 ERA through his first four starts.

Peralta has crushed right-handed pitching throughout his career, elevating his slugging percentage from .343 against lefties to .531 against righties. He's also seen his ISO move from .116 to .214, his wOBA from .278 to .383, and his hard-hit rate from 29.2 percent to 34.4 percent. Get him in your lineups tonight.

Evan Longoria, 3B, Tampa Bay Rays

FanDuel Price: $3,000

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

Third base includes Nolan Arenado at Coors against a weak lefty, Josh Donaldson against a lefty, Manny Machado against a lefty, and the red-hot Mike Moustakas against a righty. It's unlikely people are clamoring to get Evan Longoria in their lineups.

Why You Should Use Him:

The Rays draw a matchup against Chris Tillman tonight, who is mistakenly thought of as an average pitcher. Tillman posted a 4.69 SIERA last season and was far from average against right-handed batters, allowing a .500 slugging percentage and .353 wOBA.

Longoria, a righty, has a career .333 batting average against Tillman, and has 7 home runs in 16 games. He is certainly worth a look at his discounted price tag.

Elvis Andrus, SS, Texas Rangers

FanDuel Price: $2,900

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

Elvis Andrus hasn't been a popular fantasy commodity in a couple years. That's not likely to change tonight.

Why You Should Use Him:

Andrus has hit safely in 8 of his past 10 games and is coming off of a 3-for-4, 18.7-FanDuel-point performance.

He'll look to stay hot tonight against lefty CC Sabathia, the owner of a 4.08 SIERA in 2015. Sabathia posted horrifying splits against right-handed batters, too, which bodes well for Andrus. Andrus has improved his numbers across the board against lefties and has a career .455 batting average against Sabathia in 22 at-bats.

The Rangers are projected for 4.6 runs tonight, and Andrus could play a large role in reaching that total.

Jake Lamb, 3B, Arizona Diamondbacks

FanDuel Price: $2,800

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

Jake Lamb is in a terrific spot and may see his ownership boosted from DFS tout hype. However, he's unlikely to see as high of ownership as he should at this price due to the plethora of third base options.

Why You Should Use Him:

Lamb has found himself on the bench more often than not recently, with Arizona facing several left-handed pitchers. Tonight, the Diamondbacks face righty Adam Wainwright, though, so Lamb should be in the lineup and hitting near the top of the order.

Lamb has played quite well recently, with seven extra-base hits over his past six starts, during which he has averaged 17.5 FanDuel points.

Despite this, he can be had for just $2,800 tonight on FanDuel at relatively low ownership.

The matchup offers reason for optimism, too, as Wainwright has struggled mightily to start the year. Vegas has the Diamondbacks projected for 4.5 runs as a result.

Wainwright has struggled specifically with left-handers throughout his career. Lamb, a lefty, has posted improved splits against right-handed pitching in his career. He is a very appealing value play tonight.

Oswaldo Arcia, OF, Minnesota Twins

FanDuel Price: $2,800

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

There are several ways to go with your three outfield positions tonight, but it seems unlikely that people are going to go out of their way to roster the six-hitter for a team with a modest 4.1 implied team total.

Why You Should Use Him:

Oswaldo Arcia has played the role of a hero for the Twins this season and should be hitting in the six-hole for Minnesota tonight against the right-handed Josh Tomlin, who has a career 4.08 SIERA

In his career, Arcia has launched 31 of his 37 homers against right-handed pitching, and his underlying numbers offer validity to those numbers.

Arcia has crushed righties throughout his career, but he's been especially dangerous at home, as evidenced by his splits table below.

You'll be hard-pressed to find a player with this type of power potential for so cheap.
