J.D. Martinez (groin) out Thursday for Red Sox
Boston Red Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez (groin) is not in the starting lineup for Thursday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Kevin Gausman and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Martinez is dealing with adductor tightness that is expected to keep him out through at least Friday's series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays. Rafael Devers is covering the DH role on Thursday, while Bobby Dalbec is starting on third base and batting fifth. Travis Shaw is entering the lineup to play first base and bat eighth.
numberFire’s models project Shaw for 9.1 FanDuel points on Thursday, and he has a $2,000 salary. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Red Sox have an implied total of 4.18 runs.
