On the Decline: Iowa State Cyclones

The Iowa State Cyclones have been a perennial power in recent years, but few programs are immune from the heavy hits that departing talent can create. For head coach Steve Prohm, the 2017-18 season looks like their turn to go through some growing pains.

They won the Big 12 Tournament and earned a 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament last year while featuring one of the most explosive offenses in the country, ranking inside numberFire's top 25 (non-schedule adjusted). An incredible amount of production is gone from that squad, though.

Seniors Monte Morris, Nazareth Mitrou-Long, Deonte Burton, and Matt Thomas all averaged double figures last year, accounting for nearly 60 points per game. The Big 12 will likely not be a welcome environment for a young team looking to replace an that level of talent and experience.
