Cam Newton finished last year strongly, racking up over 20 fantasy points in six of his final eight games. He continued that success with 21.16 fantasy points in Week 1, which ranked 10th among all quarterbacks.

Pretty good.

But much better when you consider that it was against the Denver Broncos, who only allowed more fantasy points to a quarterback three times last season – and they never allowed over 25 points to a signal caller.

Against that stout Denver defense, Newton attempted 41 passes and accounted for 22% of his team’s rushes.

This week, the Carolina Panthers have the highest implied total (29.25) of any team, and they are also the biggest favorites (-13.5) on the board for their clash with the San Francisco 49ers. This sets up Newton to have another big week, and we project him to be the second-best fantasy quarterback.
