The 5 Best Seasons of Tom Brady's Career
1. 2007-2008
At age 30, Brady had the single most-efficient season of his career, achieving career-highs in completion percentage (68.9%), touchdowns (50), touchdown percentage (8.7%) and adjusted yards per attempt (9.4). Brady threw for 4,806 yards on 578 pass attempts, just eight of which went to the opposing team.
Wes Welker was again a primary target, but new addition Randy Moss provided Brady with the best receiver of his career, especially when we're talking about the deep ball. The two hooked up for 98 catches, 1,493 yards and 23 touchdowns.
With a crazy touchdown-to-interception rate, voluminous totals and a Hall of Fame cast, you could understand how Brady contributed 0.44 Pass NEP per drop back. Compared to the league's average of 0.1118, Brady's margin of 0.3282 is the highest of his career by a long shot. The same can be said for his total Pass NEP, which amounted to 259.4 over 16 games -- the highest number of his career by over 45 points.
But, after all was said and done, all of Brady's greatness was for naught. Eli Manning and the Giants got the best of the Patriots in one of the most memorable Super Bowls of all time. At least Brady was rewarded with the hardware, taking home the first and most well-earned MVP award of his distinguished career.
