In the last of his 12 seasons, Faulk understandably ran out of gas. At the age of 32, he played in all 16 games but only started one, finishing the year with 583 total yards and a single touchdown.

After the season, in July of 2006, the Rams announced that Faulk would undergo reconstructive knee surgery and miss the 2006 campaign. The player-turned-analyst went back-and-forth on whether to return in 2007, but eventually called it quits.
