Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

Overall ADP: 88th
nF Draft Kit Ranking: 57th

The flaming-out of the likes of Robert Griffin III must have really soured people on the viability of the dual-threat fantasy quarterback, but even locked-and-loaded fantasy deity Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers is getting shade this season. Just like Buffalo's Tyrod Taylor (more about him in a moment), one of the reasons Newton is getting drafted well below his value this year is concern from a curious shoulder injury that has lingered all offseason.

Per usual, though, Newton’s big-time value comes from his legs. He's rushed more than 80 times every season in the NFL, picking up more than 350 yards and 5 touchdowns on the ground each season. Those 65 fantasy points add to a quarterback’s profile, and they can make up for subpar passing numbers.

Newton will cost a little more than Taylor, however -- he’s going in the early eighth round, as the 10th quarterback off the board. We project him as our QB6 for fantasy purposes and worthy of a late fifth-round selection.
