Fantasy Football: 5 Teams With Potentially Frustrating Usage

1. The Seattle Seahawks' Backfield

You probably saw this one coming. There's a reason that no Seattle Seahawks running back is currently going within the first seven rounds of 12-team, point-per-reception (PPR) drafts, according to Fantasy Football Calculator. And that reason may not subside once the real games get pumping.

Between Thomas Rawls, Eddie Lacy, and Chris Carson, the Seahawks have three backs all vying for early-down work within the offense. We know the value of that role is high given the efficiency that Russell Wilson has always shown, but it doesn't matter if we have no idea who will get the ball.

Rawls had seemed to be the top gun, having played 5 of 10 snaps with the first-team offense in the opener, according to Nathan Jahnke of Pro Football Focus. Lacy played just two, as did C.J. Prosise.

But then Rawls sustained an ankle injury that forced him to miss the remainder of the preseason, further muddying the situation.

Head coach Pete Carroll said that Rawls could have played in the preseason finale Thursday, but he also confirmed that he views both Rawls and Lacy as "starters." This is a full-on mess.

The only guy here with a locked-in role appears to be Prosise as the passing-down back, and there's certainly value in that. But with Rawls and Lacy, there is no clear-cut outcome in sight.

This is a situation that we'll have to monitor once Week 1 rolls around. Because that's a true game, we'll be able to get a gauge on the situation based on each player's respective snap count. But until then, we're left knowing that Prosise will have a role and assuming that Rawls will be the top option on early downs. This problem doesn't figure to go away any time soon.
