David Johnson is projected to be our second-best non-quarterback on DraftKings in Week 1. In fact, even counting signal callers, we have DJ as the third overall player, trailing only the aforementioned Ryan and Bell.

Johnson is projected so highly for good reason -- he's awesome, and the Arizona Cardinals have a dope matchup with the Detroit Lions.

Based on our models, the Lions are our 31st-ranked defense heading into the year, and they owned the league's worst D a year ago, according to our schedule-adjusted metrics.

The Cardinals have a solid implied team total of 24.75 points, and they are favored in Week 1, a good sign for the all-purpose running back.

Johnson finished the 2016 season as our top rated running back, and he should be the focal point of the Cardinals' attack in Detroit. He may carry lower ownership than Bell -- although both will likely see gobs of ownership -- at a similar price point. Strategically, Johnson may wind up being the better option in tournaments.
