Seattle's Backfield Is a Fantasy Mess

While we received fantasy clarity regarding Ty Montgomery's situation, the news from Seattle is not as good. Seattle had no clear starting running back coming into the season, and they certainly don't have one now.

With Thomas Rawls inactive on Sunday, there was hope that a clear-cut front-runner would emerge from the depth chart. That was not the case, as Eddie Lacy (five carries), C.J. Prosise (four) and rookie Chris Carson (six) just about split the workload into thirds while Carson caught the only pass among the Seattle backs.

Going off Week 1, the team may want to give more touches to Carson, who looked the best of the bunch against Green Bay. Carson's 39 rushing yards vastly eclipsed either of his teammates' totals, and his 10-yard catch completed a first down on 3rd-and-10.

However, Rawls should return soon, further muddying up the situation.

In all, the fact Carson rotated in so heavily looks like trouble for Lacy and Rawls, and Carson's effectiveness makes him an intriguing stash. IT's probably best to take a wait-and-see approach with this backfield, but Carson is certainly worthy of a roster spot, and the 'Hawks have a tasty home matchup against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2.
