Remember how we all thought Allen Hurns would finally break out in 2018 after signing with the Dallas Cowboys and becoming their de facto number-one receiver? No? Yeah, we didn’t either.

We thought there would be a nice opportunity for Hurns to increase his target volume in Dallas, given that his competition for looks was slim-to-none, but we were a bit sour on the passing game as a whole for this season. Unfortunately, the latter expectation seems to be proving truer, as Hurns is currently averaging 3.0 targets per game – which will be a career-low if it holds all season. To make things worse, Hurns is averaging a mediocre 12.8 yards per reception – as low as his lowest season in Jacksonville – and still is catching a miserable 44 percent of his targets (though that appears to be an issue of passing accuracy).

Hurns isn’t getting enough work or being used in a lucrative enough role to give us an upside ceiling, and he’s not been consistent enough to have a stable floor. He’s droppable in most formats.
